Currently working in Information Technology Department at United Arab Shipping Company, I am responsible to provide support to all company application users local and worldwide 24/7 and to manage all company’s systems, hardware, software and network resources in Kuwait HO and Dubai corporate office.
Perform system operation on a multiplatform environment (AS/400 iSeries, Digital VAX, NT, and PC’s) and operate peripheral equipment ensuring the smooth running of all computer systems in the computer room.
Complete daily scheduled tasks & ad hoc report requests, monitor batch work, and system monitoring making sure that all processing requirements are met on a timely basis
Perform detailed troubleshooting of system problems including help desk calls; responding to alert system messages, systems errors, and escalating problem.
Identify and document problems in job scheduling and processing relating to software and hardware malfunctions and NT server equipments, gather all data for problem resolution.
Manage and monitor the operations of Disaster and Recovery resources (MIMIX) and communication network.
Supervise and carry out daily scheduling of (BRMS) systems backup operations, manage tape libraries and system disk space allocation (house keeping).
Provide restores on a variety of systems as a result of user request or system problems. Includes logs backup responsibilities as required throughout the day, proper tracking and maintenance of all backup jobs and media on all systems.
Provide first level help desk support and act as first contact for information on a wide variety of production systems, desktop and printing issues.
Implement and enforce standard system operations procedures and maintain procedural manuals for daily, weekly and monthly processing requirements; daily, weekly checklists; shift duties and report updates after each shift.
Co-ordinate with Internal Auditors during EDP audit assignments.
Supervising transmission of text messages through WANG personal computer connected to main frame systems for communication purpose to worldwide offices and company’s shipping vessels (Oil tankers) via satellite through Modem.
