To produce drawings and stability and design calculations of foundations (pile or on-soil) for pipe racks/structures, shelters, warehouses with overhead cranes, and/or foundations for equipment (horizontal/vertical heat exchangers, vessels, reactors, etc.)
To provide special calculations for seismic evaluation and vibration analysis of structures and blast-resistant design
To produce standard or special drawing details and calculations for structural steel connections and reinforced concrete.
To provide clash checking of pipes on pipe rack/structure using 3D Model Review Software such as Navisworks and PDMS.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To produce calculations and designs for steel connections that are part of buildings and structures using AISC’s LRFD/ASD methodology
To review steel shop drawings and within 3D computer models for implementation of the connection designs using TEKLA
To read and understand structural design drawings and specifications that were created by different Engineers of Record (EOR)
To ask written clarifications questions (RFI’s) where the EOR documents are not 100% clear
To consistently produce accurate calculations for steel connections using hand, Excel software and Mathcad software
To learn and proficiently use AISC LRFD design methodology, and related codes/design guides, relative to connection design
To sketch/draw connection design results using straight lines and clear writing
To assemble calculation packages for submittal to the EOR
To clearly communicate important design information verbally and in writing to other employees and clients of the company
To review shop drawings for conformance with connection design and mark up with hand and/or Adobe Acrobat Editor non-conforming items
Lead the design team for making and updating internal standard steel connection details and calculations using Excel/MathCad software
