Key Responsibilities
Sales Forecasting:
Review and validate sales forecasts submitted by operating units on a monthly basis
Monitor forecast accuracy of markets for each planning cycle and work on continuous improvement measures
Sales & Operations Planning:
Collaborate with sales & marketing, finance and NPD teams to optimize procurement, manufacturing, inventories, and distribution
Demand Planning:
Ensure continuity of supply and optimal material flow to operating units in DRC, Angola, Nigeria, Ghana, Zambia, CAR, Cameroon, Kenya & South Sudan
Managing inventory levels at the customer’s end to ensure minimal stock outs or excess stocks
Compile demand requirements of various operating units, consolidate and release purchase orders to suppliers
Supply Planning:
Liaise with suppliers in India, China and UAE regularly that products are sourced at right price and supplies are ensured on time
Measure supplier performance for each of the planning cycles
Preparation of product wise annual budgets and work with suppliers on resource and capacity planning
Contract Manufacturing:
Manage supplies of consumer range of products through local contract manufacturer
Release purchase orders, monitor production, arrange shipments and process payments to contract manufacturer
Logistics:
Negotiating freight quotes with various shipping lines and freight forwarders on monthly basis
Compile and review freight quotes from shipping lines/freight forwarders and approve shipments
Manage/track status of transit containers to African operating units
Customer Service:
Implemented Oracle R12 modules related to Purchasing, Order management & inventory to streamline purchasing, procurement and customer service functions
Manage documentation for imports/exports through Oracle R12
Liaising with government/private agencies and arranging for full set of clean documents for export to operating units
Others:
Define SOPs & KPIs for markets and suppliers to better manage and measure efficiency of supply chain processes
Contribute to new product development, launch planning and monitoring
Member of product rationalization team, to categorize product portfolio and cut out non-performing products without affecting organization’s top and bottom line goals.
Knowledge of export procedures to countries namely Angola, DRC, CAR, Zambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Kenya & South Sudan.
To support CEO/COO on various strategic and operational projects
Achievements:
SCIP - Functional leader for Project SCIP - In house Supply Chain Improvement Project
Oracle R12 - Successfully implemented Purchasing, Order management & Inventory modules at Corporate HQ and African territories
Demand Planning Module - Developed market specific demand planning modules in MS Excel.
Sales Forecasting Module - Designed an in-house sales forecasting module that measures seasonality, stocks outs and product life cycle patterns.
crAcker - Developed and implemented in house container tracking application
DOCSOP - Documentation SOP’s which encompasses all the processes involved in turning and forwarding the documents to respective Operating Units.
Central POS - Responsible for the implementation of POS client and Enterprise applications at African operating units and at Central office.
CAPEX expansion proposals for CAR
Plan for stocking hubs in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania & Lobito, Southern Angola
Validation and development of UAE supplier as contract manufacturer for supply of consumer range of products to African OUs
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Strategy
Forecasting & preparing the annual budgets for sales and expenses and devising strategies to accomplish the organization’s top & bottom line goals
Sales & Marketing and Product Management:
Analysing the product wise, customer wise sales trends on regular intervals
Devising strategies to achieve the sales targets
Decisions on the product price revisions and promotion schemes
Formulating strategies & promotion schemes for the successful launch of new products
Competitor analysis in terms of price, product and availability and take/suggest prompt actions
Imports, Logistics & Warehouse Management:
Monitoring the stocks on a regular basis and plan for the shipments so as to avoid stock outs.
To manage the smooth functioning of imports department with respect to documentation and clearing the containers
Knowledge of HS codes and taxation
Maintaining inventory reconciliation records
MIS:
Generation of the various daily reports related to sales & inventory.
Preparation and reporting of the various monthly reports related to sales & inventory.
Preparation of the annual budgets
Achievements:
Successfully handled Planning/Strategy, Sales & Marketing, Product Management, Imports & Logistics and MIS functions at Shalina Angola.
Responsible for achieving & maintaining a growth rate of 20% over the years 2005-07.
Successfully launched over 30 new products during 05 & 06. The new products alone have contributed to USD 1Mn of the total sales in 2006
Supervisor for the implementation of Point of Sales (POS) system all over the branches of Shalina in Africa. Successfully implemented the POS system at Angola and Kinshasa & Lubumbashi in DRC.
Induction in business operations namely sales & marketing, logistics, warehousing, MIS in Angola and DRC.
Initiated the Credit sales and developed a complete credit sales management system at Shalina, Luanda
Projects on Customer Segmentation and improving the performance of the Ready Stock Unit (RSU) at Shalina, Kinshasa.
Initiated/Organised a doctor promotion plan for the Province Kisangani, DRC.
