I was hired as a US History teacher, but my principal would utilize me as a master teacher to recover different classes and to train teachers as needed. Four years in a row I was requested to recover classes and retrain the teacher of the class to produce a highly qualified teacher who followed the assigned curriculum.
The first time, I was asked to recover a Civics class, the next three years I was pulled in February to take over an English 6 class. In each case, assessments predicted a 20%-25% passing rate on state assessments. When the time came, students scored pass rates of 85.8%, 86.6%, and 88.9% pass rates.
