The Senior Laboratory Engineer occupies a significant role in the sample quality determination and is accountable for controlling and maintaining compliance of the quality measurement process. Also accountable of maintaining the Quality Management System of ISO 17025 fully implemented.Also conducting routine and non-routine analysis, troubleshooting and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, as well as, ensure compliance with the laboratory quality, time, cost and safety standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Contribute in new equipment selection, installation, Training and any lab upgrades
• Perform calibrations to instruments to control the data quality
• Perform online gas monitoring for field wells, specially H2S and LEL gases
• Participate in periodic internal and external technical and HSE audits
• Develop and review/update of quality control policies, lab documents and standard operating procedures(SOPs)
• Contribute in Lab budgeting and budget management.
• Establish appropriate procedures to ensure safe, hazard-free working at all times and in compliance with company and safety policies.
• Responsible(Contract holder) for laboratory-related contracts and purchases, and make sure that lab is well stocked and resourced
• Prepare a weekly and monthly report for the department management summarizes the lab work progress
• Contribute to the development of the Risk Assessment matrix and hazard analysis for the lab operations
• Ensure that staff comply with relevant procedures and are trained in appropriate safety procedures and emergency drills
• Responsible for QC samples preparation and shipping(outside country, Third party)
• Ensure that procedures are in place and clearly documented for the calibration of all test equipments and that calibration is carried out as prescribed to ensure the accuracy of test results.
• Supervise the task’s execution team and being responsible of roles distribution and data evaluation.
• Provide technical assistance for the lab manager and team including planning and execution issues.
• Provide assistance for the maintenance team in urgent and preventive maintenance cases and troubleshooting
• A focal point for lab communications with third parties (oil refinery, scientific society, water authority, universities, radiation committee, MEMR labs….etc)
In addition to my duties shown above, the following were part of my daily routine work:
1- Elemental analysis( Carbon, sulfur for rock samples)
2- Source rock evaluation( By Rock Eval machine)
3- Oil Yield determination( Retorting by Fisher Assay)
4- Core scanning( Gamma density, p-wave velocity, natural gamma, UV imaging and XRF)
5- Porosity& permeability( steady and unsteady states)
6- Sour oil analysis( Simulated distillation GC, Density and viscosity)
7- Sour Water analysis( Ion chromatography, Spectrometer, Oil content, TOC, TDS, TSS, Conductivity, PH)
8- Sour Gas analysis: Refinery gas analyzer(RGA)
9- Online gas monitoring for drilled undertest wells( H2S and LEL gases)

Responsible of gas production unit intended for galvanized steel production
-Ensure that gas production unit is fully functioning and operating
-Ensure that all process parameters(Temperatures, Pressures, Flow rates and Purity) of input and output gases are as desired.
-Ensure that Unit is well stocked of input/output gases and spare parts
-Report any maintenance issues immediately to the mainenance dept. and make sure problem is
