A- Health, Safety & Risk assessment: Implement the health and safety rolls and regulation to the facilities, issue and maintain the crisis plans, escape plans, do an orientation training for the new users, follow/update/enhance the SOPs (if needed) and advise the users on the health and safety matters.
Conduct lab risk assessments, review it, develop it and mitigate it. Study and review the potential emergency situation and conduct drills.
Also, implement KAUST research safety on the ongoing researches, transgenic researches, Invasive species and weed species.
Insure to follow the international standards to dispose the used plants and test the autoclave to insure safe treatment to the plant and to prevent the plants seeds and the water used to irrigate the plants to drain with the other used water sources.
B- Plant Safety: Work side by side with an agronomist and pathologist to check the plant health, plan the preventive activities, formulate the corrective plans (when needed) and maintain the plant health.
C- Access to the facilities: Insure all the facilities users have the needed trainings, renew the expired trainings certificates and linked it with the smart door access (Automated system to cancel the ID access once one of the trainings expired, users/staff need to renew all the safety trainings every three years).
D- Space distribution and facilities users: Distribute the space between users as agreed on the users committee meetings, insure the users has all the needed documents and approvals before conducting the research. Coordinate between the users and growth facilities staff to prepare the requested space.
E- Badger (Charging and space usage control software): Register the new users to Badger, charge the users when they use the facilities, prepare the monthly changing report and space validity, share the reports with the users PI and our management. (Badger system to monitor the usage of the facilities, report the unused facilities or devices and the facilities in maintenance as well. Calculate the initial cost of the facilities, the running cost, maintenance period, unused period, shutdown period and generate the monthly charges).
F- Argus control system: Managing Argus control system (Which is the system used to manage the environmental condition of the facilities), insure all the environmental sittings (Temperature, humidity, sunlight, extra lights, sunshade, roof ventilation. CO2 and the automatic irrigation system) as requested by the users in all the facilities.
G- Procurement: Responsible for all the Plant growth facilities procurement and Logistics, third party contractors, plan the financial budget and execute it, record the purchase orders and follow it, request the funds categorize it and monitor/record it.
H- Budgeting and Planning: Responsible for planning, managing and reporting lab capital budget and operational budget, set financial goals and excite it. Review business continuity plans and audit it. Receive the contractor invoices, warranties and work execution documents after project completion.
I- Plant growth facilities development: Part of the development team, did several projects, 15000sq.meter open research filed project, developed and planed the new growth chambers facilities project, -80 Freezers import project and operated, planed and supervised connecting the plant growth facilities to the backup power project, part of the team installed the speed breading lights in the Greenhouse, planed and worked on the installation of CCTV and Smart card access in all the facilities, part of the team planed and managed to replace all the aged plant growth chambers, and other.
