Implementation of Corporate Governance (CG)

 Reviewed the existing Corporate Governance framework and conducted a Gap analysis vis-à-vis the final instructions issued by CBK.
 Prepared the CG Compliance Quarterly Report to CBK including developing the responses for the CBK checklist on CG.
 Engagement & Syndication, along with the consultant, of Board Secretary and members of the Executive Management on the implementation of Corporate Governance through workshops/meetings etc.
 Developed/ revised, along with the consultant, the key policies/charters/framework of the bank as part of the overall CG framework including Board Risk Committee Charter, Board Nomination & Remuneration Committee Charter, Board Corporate Governance Committee Charter, CG Policy, Disclosure Policy, Remuneration Policy, Conflict of Interest & RPT policy, Stakeholder Protection Policy etc.
 Reviewed and revised, along with the consultant, the existing Organizational chart, in the light of the CBK instructions on CG.
 Reviewed and revised, along with the consultant, the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders of CG framework including BOD, Chairman, Board Secretary, CRO & Key members of the Executive Management.
 Developed Whistle Blowing Policy & External Audit Management Policy of the Bank.
 Developed the Reporting Pack for new Board Committees and revised the reporting pack of existing Board Committees.
 Revised the Charters of the management level committees to reflect the changes as part of the new CG framework.

BASEL III

 Nominated by the bank to Central Bank of Kuwait- Capital & Risk Coverage Working Group Committee for the implementation of BASEL III in Kuwait.
 Engaged in the BASEL III Implementation project in Kuwait undertaken by Central Bank of Kuwait. (EGM Risk - dotted line reporting, being part of the Steering Committee)
 Developed the response document to Central Bank of Kuwait on BASEL III proposed reforms and implementation plan, in coordination with other banks in Kuwait (Kuwait Banking Association).
 Conducted a quantitative and qualitative impact assessment of the BASEL III regulations on the bank
 Nominated as the Secretary to the bank’s BASEL III implementation core group.



Operational Risk & Risk Policies

 Review & Revise the Investigation Policy along with the Staff Disciplinary Action Policy of the Bank.
 Developed the Risk Convergence document to avoid duplication of efforts of various control functions.
 Review the Operational Risk VaR model and Operational Risk Framework and set up the bank-wide reporting structure for High Operational Risk Open Issues for CEO.
 Developed methodology for Remained Operational Risk and Remained CRM risks for the purpose of computing Pillar II capital charge.

ICAAP & Stress Testing

 Conducting the ICAAP Exercise for Board on a quarterly basis and for Central Bank on a semi-annual basis for both ABK and Ahli Capital (subsidiary of the bank)
 Conducting Pillar II Capital Computation & Stress testing exercise for the Concentration risk including Name & Country concentration and for IBD Banks exposure.
 Reviewing of Risk Appetite statement and monitoring key parameters of inherent risk for various Pillar I & Pillar II Risk of the bank.
 Developed the Market Risk- Pillar II Capital Computation methodology by using the concept of variance-covariance VaR and BASEL 2.5.
 Developed the House Limit Methodology by Risk Grade by using the concept of Economic Capital for the purpose of calculating name concentration risk.
 Developed and implemented the capital allocation matrix in the bank based on the economic capital.
 Conducting the self-assessment exercise for each of the risk unit within the bank.
 Developed the CAMEL- BCOM Assessment Scorecard for internal assessment of the bank’s credit rating, as conducted by the Central Bank.
