Provide professional Heath Physics services for this world standard-setting institute to ensure the safe use of ionizing radiation sources at NIST in conformance with the regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license, international standards and internal procedures. Duties include performing radiation facilities audits, emergency and incidence response, develop hazard assessment and hazard mitigation plans. I am also charged with overseeing the training and instructions of users of radioactive materials at NIST, including particle accelerator facility users. This includes the development of training materials relevant to users of ionizing radiation at NIST, and also the development of on-line training materials that can be accessed remotely. Duties also include the development, review, and revision of Radiation Safety Instructions that constitute the standard operating procedures for the Division

Radiation Health Physicist في National Institutes of Health (NIH)

Duties encompass comprehensive radiation safety coverage for clinical and research laboratories. Responsible for ensuring compliance with Broad Scope US NRC license.

I served as a Project Officer for management of X-Ray survey contract, which involved the preparation of Statement of Work, evaluation of business proposal and technical review, preparation of an independent government cost estimate, as well as the subsequent monitoring of contract performance and project management. I also served as a Project Officer to provide EEO supervisory training to the employees of the Office of Research Services at NIH. Additionally, I have served as an alternate Project Officer for the Regulatory Compliance Support contract which provides a wide spectrum of services in support of the mission of DRS.

I have also provided radiation safety coverage over the NIH cyclotron operations intermittently. Duties included participation on the weekly production meetings, performance of periodic cyclotron vault surveys, vault door interlock inspections, exposure investigations for cyclotron operators and chemists, spill response activities, and monitoring of effluent releases. In July 2007 I conducted a comprehensive audit of cyclotron operations in advance of the newly enacted NRC regulatory oversight over cyclotron-produced materials.

In my capacity as a Senior Health Physicist, I serve as a Division Acting Chief during temporary absences of the chief, with direct supervisory responsibilities over more than 12 other professional health physicists. Additionally, I represent the Division in various NIH committees such as the Occupational Safety and Health Committee Chairpersons and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), Animal Care and Use Committee, and NIH Design Policy and Guidelines Committee. The Occupational Safety and Health Committee oversee all aspects of safety in the workplace at NIH.

I represented the U.S. Government on an Advisory Group to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria, in June 1998 and again in February 1999, which authored a technical document on spent sealed radioactive materials. I also served for 4 years as a voting member of the NHLBI, Animal Care and Use Committee, which review, modify, and approve animal-use protocols at the institute.

I completed, favorably, the NACIC background investigation for the NIH Biosurety Program for clearance to work with select agents and toxins and other high-risk biologic materials, Level 2 (ANACI) position.

In December 2008 I conducted a comprehensive audit of the radiation safety program at the University of Maryland at College Park (UMCP). In January 2011 I participated in a panel that performed a management review of the Safety, Occupational Heath, and Environmental Services of the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Beltsville Agricultural Research Center focusing specifically at the their radiation safety operation.
