Computer Science is a relatively young but an extremely rich and diverse discipline. At one end of the spectrum, computer science may be viewed as the formal study of what can be computed and what resources are required for computation. At the other end of the spectrum, computer science may be seen as the application of hardware, software, and human resources to solve computational problems related to society untouched by computer science. Computer science is present in everything from healthcare, telecommunications, mobile phones, entertainment, transportation and education to advanced weapon systems. The result of this diversity is that a computer scientist must be capable of working with people outside his or her field. In support of this, the Computer Science Program provides its students with a well-rounded education that requires significant course work, in addition to the strong emphasis placed on hands-on experiments, documentation, the presentation of the assigned task, and the ability to communicate properly. The Computer Science Program at AUST has integrated four main well known certificates in its curriculum; thus, giving students a high degree of productivity and confidence. These certificates are from Cisco, Linux Professional Institute (LPI), Sun, and Oracle.
