Ministry of Civil Services wanted to manage some of its projects as programs and also to introduce portfolio management in the IT department. This was a big organizational change! Strategy alignment, governance, and risk management is now well established at MCS.
Achievements:
1. Established the IT PMO, including tools, processes, templates and training and coaching project managers
2. Introduced Program, Portfolio management processes and tools
3. Generating consolidated reports about projects, programs, and portfolios status, progress, and risk
4. A clear escalation procedure is now in place
Main responsibilities include:
• Managing various implementations of programs and projects in addition to ongoing operations for IT, Telecommunication, and Software development.

• Responsible for the management of the entire collection of projects undertaken by PMO department in a manner that ensures their alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives.

• Responsible for developing Program/Project documentation not limited to Program/Project Management Plan, Program/Project Approach, Program/Project Management Methodology, Program/Project Schedule, and Program/Project Organization Structure.

• Develop a high-level milestone plan using goals and objectives of the project, applicable historical information, and other available resources in order to align project with expectations of stakeholders.

• Responsible for the coordinated management of multiple related projects, and in many cases, ongoing operations which are directed toward a common objective.

• Responsible for estimating the costs and benefits of the projects in order to establish the program feasibility and obtain funding.
