RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in all phases of the hospital/healthcare facilities design, planning, construction, equipment delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning, handing over and follow-up of equipment during the warranty period.
- Coordinate and support other Engineering disciplines (Architects, Electrical, Mechanical, Structure, Internal Design ... etc.) in all related issues to medical equipment & Furniture allocation, Architectural, Structural & MEPs requirements.
- Provide full support the client/end-user staff and representatives in all related issued to Medical Equipment to take the right decision in all stages of the project.
- Understand the client/end-user functional requirement and reflecting these to recommendation and decisions via continues meetings, workshops, and connections.
- Conduct a regular/when required meetings with the client/end-user for reporting the progress, current status, next steps in regard to medical equipment and taking the necessary action regarding the feedback from the meeting.
- Issue/ Submit regular medical equipment planning report to client/end-user.
- Keep and manage a well-organized filing document (hardware & software) for all related to medical equipment subjects, processes, and actions.
- Advise the client/end-user/subcontractors and take the perfect decisions about:
• Assess the needs of the client/end-user needs for all type of medical equipment required.
• Set schedule plans in coordination with the client/end-user and the engineering team for the purchasing, supply, delivery, installation, testing, commissioning and acceptance processes for medical equipment.
• Prepare a comprehensive BOQ (Bill of Quantities) lists for all medical equipment within the project.
• Prepare a draft estimation of the equipment budgets/cost required
• Prepare/Review of the technical specification and Technical Terms and Conditions needed for each type of medical equipment within the project.
• Prepare/Review the Room Data Sheets (RDS) and equipment MEP, IT, Environmental and Equipment Plans distributions.
• Prepare the Room-By-Room Equipment Lists.
• Prepare all types of forms required for the progress of activities related to medical equipment and medical furniture, including inspections forms for delivery, installation, testing & commissioning, acceptance, handing over certificates, equipment services, follow-up, and others.
• Prepare of medical equipment handing over documents.
• Provide technical advice in equipment/vendor selection and evaluation.
• Advise the client/end-user about the equipment accessories and consumables.
1. Capable to deal with Auto CAD, Revit CAD drawings.
2. Well familiar with International Standards, Regulations, and Guidelines related to: Medical devices and equipment, Medical Gases, Hazards & safety in healthcare facilities, Radiation protection, Noise and noise protection in medical spaces, Sterilization and infection control, Biomedical waste management and more.
3. Well familiar with international guidelines for; Health facilities design & planning, Functional Space programs (FSP), Departments relationships, Medical rooms /areas sizes, plans & occupation, Room data sheets (RDS), Medical Equipment & medical furniture distribution, Medical rooms & areas environmental conditions requirements; temperature, humidity, air pressure, air flow & air exhaust, lighting level, noise level and special isolation requirements
4. Well familiar with Hospital/healthcare facilities Medical and Non-Medical Systems and its relation to the medical equipment such as; Medical Integration Systems, IT Healthcare Systems ( HIS, LIS, RIS & PACs), Nurse Call Systems, Building Management System (BMS) and Material Tractability & Management Systems.

• During Design & Planning Phase:
-Determining the quantities, types, sizes and capacities of all medical equipment required for the project as per Global Standards; FGI, IHFG, HBN, etc.
- Provide the project’s architect and electromechanical engineers with all the technical data & required to prepare the electromechanical design
- Selection and coordination of medical equipment within the hospital project
- Ensure that the zones and departments comprising the hospital are introduced and their functional relationships to each other are examined
- Determine and calculate all required services including power rating and consumption, water and drain connections, heat dissipation, exhaust connections, medical gases, etc.
- Calculating the Right-Size of the equipment such as CSSD sterilizers, chemistry & hematology analyzers, radiology machines, E.C.G, etc.
- Preparing the Project’s Medical Equipment Drawings (The drawings will include equipment icons, electromechanical outlets and ergonomic data Equipment Schedules and Bills of Quantity will be generated from the drawings
• During Construction Phase:
- Coordination with civil, electrical, mechanical and other departments to facilitate the proper services for all medical equipment
- Supervise site preparation and the installation of Major medical equipment (Radiology, Surgical, Infection Control and LAB)
- Maintain record of in & out deliverables and reporting to senior managers by relevant reports
• Tendering for medical equipment (preparing & issuance, studying, evaluating and awarding)
• Preparing medical equipment quantities (BOQ's) as per hospital requirements.
• Preparing budgets estimate for medical equipment.
• Co-ordination with electro-mechanical and other departments to facilitate the proper services for all medical equipment.
• Preparing the generic technical specifications for the medical equipment per international standards.
• Supervise site preparation and the installation of medical equipment.
• Supervise the shop drawings for the major medical equipment.
• Preparing the required schedules (as medical lights, medical gas, power & data est.)
• Maintain record of in & out deliverables and reporting to senior managers by relevant reports.
Kuwait Oil Company (K.O.C) approval as Medical Equipment Engineer
• Installation, Maintenance & Training For The Following Equipments:
- Surgical; operational table, operation light & pendent (DRAGER).
- Medical Laser; Plastic & Dermatology (QUANTEL DERMA).
- ENT & Gynecology (ATMOS).
- Therapy Systems; ICU Beds, Vacuum Dressing & Fluid Air (KCI).
- Central Sterilization; Steam Sterilization, Washer Disinfectors (BELIMITED).
• Installation, Maintenance & Training For The Following Equipment:
- imagers; wet, dry & laser
- CR'S including their software's & installing DICOM interface
- PACS work station & dental x-rays applications such as (Apperical x-ray, panorama & sephalometric x-ray & oral camera) besides the x-ray film processor.
• Perform specialized technical tasks involved in the Installation, Maintenance, Repair, Servicing, Modification, Troubleshooting and Calibration of a variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic biomedical equipment
• Liaising with hospital end-users and manufacturer/supplier to ensure the feasibility of a product in terms of applications and use in order to maximize the utility of each equipment
• Discussing and solving problems with manufacturer/supplier for the benefit of medical professionals (doctors, nurses & technicians), quality and procurement departments
• Tendering coordination with senior medical to exchange findings preparing technical specification and requirements for each department
• Dealing with technical queries from hospitals & GPS and giving advice on new equipment
• Testing and maintaining clinical equipment & training technical and clinical staff
• Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of biomedical equipment
• Prepare technical specifications for hospital equipment
• Member of tenders committee (study, compare, discuss, choose & decide).
