Custody & Clearing (CNC)
The key activities of the CNC department include:
• Opening client accounts and sub-accounts for clients
• Handling client enquiries regarding regulatory, market and operational issues
• Implementing corporate actions in relation to stock under custody
• Updating stock price daily in the GHSS system
• Preparing MI - for internal and client purposes
• Maintaining and reviewing of custody accounts and conducting annual reviews of client mandates
• Executing fee billing on a monthly basis
• Enabling Stock Transfers and settling all client trades (buy / sell) and completing daily and month-end reconciliation.
Corporate actions & Fixed Income Clerk(October 2008-October 2011):
• Checking Companies’ announcements that affect the Egyptian market in the daily newspapers
• Capturing details of the ordinary/extraordinary assembly meetings onto the system and sending them to our clients including the agenda of the meeting
• Attending the assembly meetings on behalf of our clients who request such a service and updating them with the results of the meetings
• Handing dividends and bonus shares from the point of announcement till the clients get their entitlements
• Handling customers’ holding/safekeeping and cash accounts enquiries
ACCOUNT ADMINSTRATIONS AND RECONCILIATION clerk(November 2011-till present):
• Opening / closure of securities accounts
• Opening / closure of unified codes
• Preparing forms to the market
• Maintaining standing instructions on the system
• Maintaining tariffs on the system
• Maintaining tolerance limits on the system
• Handling name change and merger requests
• Ensuring all static data entered and captured on the system is consistent, correct and compliant with industry standards
• Updating shares market price on the system
• Sending confirmation messages to clients
• Handling brokers' queries
• Handling annual review of HSS mandate files
• Reconciliation of swift messages
• Running matching macro on GHSS (HSBC Securities Services System) and MCDR (Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry)
• Reconciling & investigating stock breaks
• Preparing daily reports containing pending breaks
• Reporting of GHSS & MCDR breaks.
• Retrieval of outstanding foreign currency trades, reporting them to financial control dept. and matching the trades with the outstanding amounts in foreign currency Nostro account.
• Physical shares reconciliation
• Preparation of daily dashboard
• Preparing monthly suspense accounts certificates
