Currently, in Riyadh with Surbana Jurong International Multi Disciplinary Consultant as an infra lead engineering manager for NEOM Trojena Lake Project (started Jul. 2022).
My work scopes as an Engineering Manger Infra Leader is to ensure all design deliverables of roads, wet & dry utilities, Mobility, Mobility Infrastructure structure, tunnels, solid waste and utility buildings for the NEOM Trojena infra project have been submitted on the agreed schedule following specification and fulfilling the requirements and standard NEOM procedures. Coordinating among design lead disciplines and firming up the NEOM-PMC requirements. Attending interface meeting with other stakeholders and PMC-NEOM in order to get the necessary interfacing information’s. Attending internal meetings as well as progress meetings with NEOM-PMC. Conducting presentations to PMC/NEOM whenever required for design concept optioneering and other issues that raised. Ensures RFI correspondence with PMCM-NEOM are raised for any information required also putting safety in design as per NEOM procedure as a priority. I ensured interdisciplinary checked carried out for the proposed design prior to submission of deliverables. I also ensures optioneering and value engineering carried out during conceptual stage of design. I also following up wit design leads on issues and resolving them as well as meeting date lines and submission of drawings register accordingly. I’m also being a part of the team to daft the scopes of work and identifying deliverables and drafting base line program.

The Station Building in brief:
The footprint of the proposed station fells on the busy road of Kg Baru Road, Kuala Lumpur and overlapping few buildings and bungalows which were demolished accordingly. An early plan for road diversion and m&e utilities relocation has been planned by me and approved by local authorities in order to create the workspace for the station and allows the subcontractor to mobilize and start the work. Upon diverting the m&e utilities out of the station box boundaries, Diaphragm wall activities shall be started in order to create the station box followed by station box excavation and RC work. M&e fit out and Architect finishes shall be started wherever few zones of RC work completed and ready to receive such finishes and fit out. However, two TBM’s planned to mine through the station while the station undergoing construction and I provided and complied tunnel and team with all facilities and we have coordination meetings. The station excavation work shall be resumed once the TBMs has broken out of the station walls and the station work shall continue till the completion and station team shall interface with tunnel work as well as track work to complete the work stage by stage as scheduled. First access would be track access followed by power on.

My scopes and responsibilities as a project manager are as below:

1. Diaphragm wall installation, Soil investigations, Excavation and RC work of the station building, it’s a semi top-down and bottom-up construction with the use of steel structing.

2. M&E work (temporary and permanent) which include installation of 33kv switch gears and transformers, Chillers installations, AHU installation, Fire system, Audio system, Auto-gates installations, 10 lifts & 16 escalators, fire &water tanks installation, cable laying, sewerage &drainages, testing and commissioning and handing over to related authorities.

3. Enforcing safety, health and environment rules at site in line with the MRT SHE procedure and policy. It’s a very high and stringent requirement and we won The Sord, British safety award on 2018 for the best safety health and environment performance.

4. Responsible for architecture &finishes work and compliance to specifications and client satisfaction. Ensures all materials and methodologies are in line with requirement.
5. Ensuring site activities are ahead of scheduled and properly addressed.

6. Liaising with stakeholders, local authorities and other department to ascertain compliance and/or obtains consent.

7. Monitoring spending and ensures it’s within budget. presenting budget to top management and highlighting issues and forecast.

8. Attending meeting with client, consultant, suppliers and subcons.

The Station Building in brief:
The footprint of the proposed station falls on the busy road of Pasar Seni, Kuala Lumpur and overlapping few two hotel buildings, each one is 12 storey with 3 levels basement which needs to be demolished. An early plan for road diversion and m&e utilities relocation has been planned and approved by local authorities in order to create the workspace for the station box and allows the subcontractor to mobilize and start the work. Upon diverting the m&e utilities out of the station box boundaries, Diaphragm wall activities shall be started in order to create the station box followed by station box excavation and RC work. M&e fit out and Architect finishes shall be started wherever few zones of RC work completed and ready to receive such finishes and fit out. However, four TBM planned to be retrieved from the station thus the base sunken slab must be completed prior to TBMs breaks in and I have coordinated the wor with tunnel teams and attended meeting with them as well as provided them necessary supporting facilities to demob and dismantle the TBM’s.


Role and responsibilities as a project manager as follow:

1. Responsible for temporary works such as utilities diversion, ground anchors and struts installation, demolition of existing multi-storey buildings and jet grouting work.
2. Deep foundation work (diaphragm walls), RC work and associated excavation work for the station box. My underground station is a semi bottom up & top-down construction method.
3. Water proofing work which is a vital item for the underground work.

4. Temporary M&E work which involve temporary power supply, lighting and ventilation.

5. Responsible for the architect work and building services installation (ABWF).

6. Responsible for the permanent M&E work and progress of work and planning and delivery of M&E items to site. These items include installation of 33kv switch gears and transformers, Chillers installations, AHU installation, Fire system, Audio system, Auto-gates installations, 9 lifts & 14 escalators, fire &water tanks installation, cable laying and sewerage &drainages and their associated tanks, pits and pumps

7. Responsible of planning for the overall activities and monitor the progress as per master program.

8. Assist and coordinate the work with the TBM teams in order to facilitate the TBM break thru and retrieval work.

9. Ensure compliance to S.H.E rules and regulation at site.

10. Liaise with the sub-contractors, Consultant, client, suppliers and third parties in order to ensure smooth progress.

1. Roads & Bridges construction: in my package I have constructed 7 nos. Of fly-overs, the foundations are various and depend on soil profile; some are bored piles, spun pile foundations and micro piles. I used two types of beams, post-tensioned T-beams and pre-stressed beams. The work including roads also.

2. Bridges across rivers: in my package I have constructed 11 bridges with bored pile foundation and pre-stressed beams. Temporary steel bridges are used to facilitate the construction.

3. Station Buildings works which includes the followings:

3.3 Permanent station works which includes RC & Architecture works
3.4 System works which includes temporary and permanent system works.

4. Mega Earthwork & Excavation and Ground treatment of main lines with associated enabling works. Embankment fill was carried out by using suitable material with layer by layer compaction, each layer to achieve a certain degree of compaction and so on until I reached surcharge level.
Embankment monitoring have been carried out with a designated monitoring skim and certain tolerances.

During design and planning stage I was working with the architect and engineers to assist in outlining the requirements and scopes of the projects in line with the client objectives and a value engineering carried out through the process. I also enforce the quality and safety during construction phases and ensure the budget allocated are followed strictly without over run. I also ensures that all the approved construction drawings, shop drawings and quality forms are in place before the works kicked off as well as materials approvals. I also playing a role in identifying the risk associated and create risk management and mitigations. I initiate regular daily routine site inspection and compliance as well as regular reporting to client and meeting with local authorities and meeting their requirements and seeking approvals. Attending meeting with client, contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders. Keeping records of work done and initiate commissioning and handover. The work scopes are as below:

1. Earthwork: this work in general starting with initial survey for ROW and followed with site clearance. The ground treatment for the road shall be conducted prior to the embankment fill. The following are the type of ground treatment techniques and overall quantities used

• Pre and post-treatment Cone penetration test (CPT).
• Surface Vibratory Compaction (SVC), work done so far is 572000 m.sq.
• Vibro-Replacement stone column (VR), work done so far is 250, 000 meter run.
• Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD), work done so far is 35, 000 meter run.
• Dynamic Compaction (DC). Work carried out is 24000m.sq
• Earthwork, we carried out some earth work like site clearance, removal and replacement, sand& earth filling for embankment.

1.1 Embankment work: Upon ground treatment completion, the embankment fill shall be started with the use of suitable materials which shall be laid and compacted layer by layer toll the formation finishing level.
1.2 Under pass (2 nos.), Box culvert and pipe culvert (32) : shall be either cast in situ or a precast and such work shall be started upon completion of ground treatment.
1.3 Instrument installation and monitoring.

2. Bridges: I have constructed all bridges in 14 nos. and hand it over to the road authority. T-beam design and prestressed. Foundation was bored piles, spun piles and micro piles used.
