Overall management of the accounting records and financial reports of the Hotel, ensuring compliance with company, owner, statutory and fiscal requirements and timetable
Compliance with the management agreement and any Owner / Lease agreement
Provide an effective and efficient control through focused system of internal control
Monitor compliance with company policy and accounting procedures
Ensure legal and tax compliance and that adequate insurance cover is maintained
Liaise and co-operate with both Internal and External audits and ensure that corrective action is taken where required
Develop best practice financial accounting and control procedures
Support and advice the management team on financial and commercial matters
Manage the formulation, review and approval of budgeting and strategic planning within the hotel, identifying value opportunities
Ensure a regular cycle of forecasting is taking place with content and detail appropriate to the needs of the operation
Operate in a safe and environmentally friendly way to protect guests’ and employees’ health and safety, as well as protect and conserve the environment
Comply with the hotel environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
Maintaining an adequate system of internal controls and checks, this will provide the most cost effective control of the hotel’s assets and revenue/costs of the hotel.
Producing timely financial statements and statistics as required by Main Office and by local law.
Maintaining (where applicable) adequate and reliable records necessary to prepare financial statements of Rotana Hotels.
Ensuring that local tax matters, including income, municipalities, and other taxes, are adequately handled in conjunction with owners where applicable.
Managing cash flow in an efficient manner.
Ensuring the adequate purchasing procedures is operated so that purchases of goods and Services are made in the most cost efficient manner.
Ensuring that full corporation is provided to the external auditors.
Assuming responsibility for the safekeeping and updating of all leases and contracts which may affect the financial status of the hotel.
Ensuring that adequate insurance cover is maintained for the hotel.
Where a Pension Scheme is in place, ensuring that adequate accounting, actuarial and legal controls are applied. Also, ensuring that any variations to benefits or advisors are approved by the Pensions Committee before being put into effect.
On a regular basis, internal audits are undertaken to ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Ensure the adequate authorization is obtained prior to committing the hotel to expenditure.
Training and development of accounting staff and succession planning within the department.
As a Revenue auditor was in charge of team of 3 night auditors and 12 outlet cashiers covering 14 F&B outlets.
As An income auditor documents all revenue that a business receives. maintains records that are used by other departments to perform required financial procedures, including tax preparation and profit-and-loss analysis. In addition, an auditor safeguards an organization against monetary theft.
Achievements: Effectively worked with the CVP and Other Finance Directors to generate strategic business plans, spending guidelines and helped reduce Opex. Worked closely with corporate office on implementing the COA in line with USALI 11th Edition and played a key role on mapping and migration of the COA in more than 40 hotels. Prepared several audit schedules and signed off key controls for year-end audits as part of successful annual audit by Grant Thornton. Partnered with Quality and OpEx VP to structure department forecasting, enhance ROI analysis, capital & financial processes. Monitored payroll allocation and volume, ensuring accuracy while proactively identifying and implementing payroll process improvements Implemented Score Card reporting, providing financial and operational key metrics in consolidated, actionable format, ensuring performance improvement visibility by Executives and Field Managers
