• Reports to GM and Heading Estimation Department for cost estimation, offer preparation, price negotiation, design proposal of MV/LV Switchgears. This involve dealing with concerned internal & external stakeholders,
i.e. sales, purchase, engineering, production, customer, vendors and suppliers.
• Manage Team of Estimation Engineers. Assigning their day to day activities w.r.t work load.
• Analyze & Identify the RFQ’s to make go/no go decision and estimation strategy. Also, extract project requirement from given RFQ documents.
• Maintain inquiry log w.r.t inquiry coming in & out, setting up the priority after discussing with the management & sales team, maintain offer to order conversion (hit rate).
• Meet customers (both private & public utilities) for technical discussion pre-& post estimation stage on technical and commercial issues.
• Search & deal with new suppliers to find more technically & commercially competitive products. Negotiate with them for best discounts.
• Work effectively & diligently for both technical & commercial area of the offer to meet target price. This include providing alternative solutions which can fulfill the project requirements.
• Created Estimation tools and Estimation Analysis Sheet in MS-Excel for estimation work, margin calculations and approvals.
• Review contracts & Purchase Orders as per company’s guidelines and provide feedback for any amendment.
• Successfully executed & won local utility tenders & private projects for MV & LV Switchgears.
• Project Manager of Utility projects related for supply of MV & LV Switchgears.
Job Description:
• Cost estimation, offer preparation, design working and preparing Compliance statement of 36kV, 17.5kV Switchgear Panel Boards, Power & Distribution Transformers, Motor Control Centers, Soft Starters, Protection Relays and Batteries.
• “Request for Quotation” & contents of project’s documents such as specifications, Single Line Diagram, BOQ and Data Sheets are comprehensively studied and respected to ensure presenting proper offer technically and commercially & select optimum solution from Schneider range of equipments.
• Maintain minimum Profit margins as approved by management while estimating project costs (overheads, business and manufacturing costs). Ensure minimum margin levels are achieved, whilst respecting market price levels.
• Consider expected possibility of Risk & its mitigation action during estimation.
• The impacts of the mitigated risks and the costs of the mitigation actions are included in the project costing sheet using risk assessment tools.
• Prepare quotations which define the technical solution proposed both technical and commercial.
• Customer clarifications / queries are timely replied. Also, revisions are prepared & offers are updated as per change in the requirement/scope to ensure customer satisfaction & increase profit margin.
• Whenever required, attend client meeting along with sales personnel to finalize the project with respect to cost & technical perspective.
• Contract reviews are prepared & hand over to execution PM. Become part of the Project team and taking part in projects kick off meetings.
• On an average over USD 120Million-150Million offers are made annually. Almost 25-30% offers are converted into orders.
• Coordinate with local & external stakeholders like supply chain, design, design, procurement in order ensure a satisfactory offer technically & commercially.
• Assist Junior Tender Engineer/Colleagues during tendering stage. Mentoring new tender engineers/colleagues in following tendering department principles while preparing customer’s offer as per Schneider guidelines & rules.
• Cost estimation of MV/LV Switchgear Panels and Products. Preparation of offers & technical notes in timely manner by doing cost estimation, design proposal of switchgears. This is done by:
o Going through projects specifications & drawings &,
o As per local utilities regulations for Switchgear Panels such as DEWA, ADDC, ADSSC, KHARAMA.
• Also worked briefly in estimation of Low Current Systems Products. That included VAV (Variable Air Volume Control) with controllers, Lighting Control System & Building Management System (BMS).
• Managing estimation department pre and post estimation activities.
• Lead a team of estimation engineers, assigning priorities of inquiries, making Estimation Weekly Load Schedule for management review.
• Cost estimation, offer preparation, design proposal for LV Switchgear Panel Boards.
• Maintain Log of Inquiries & Offers & update it regularly in MS-Excel.
• Cost estimation, offer preparation & design proposal for LV Switchgear Panel Boards.
• Involved in techno-commercial meeting with clients along with sales personals to finalize the projects from cost, technical & design perspective.
• Making BOM for ordering purpose & material management during project execution.
• Monitoring & supervising designers & draftsmen for project design activities.
• Planning, scheduling, execution & material management of Power & Distribution transformers.
• Calculation & quantity estimation of raw materials being consumed and making BOM accordingly.
• Vendorization: co-ordination with local & international vendors for developing different transformer parts.
• Inventory Control of assets & materials related to Transformer Production.
• Cost Estimation, offer preparation, design proposal & cost variations of projects during execution for LV switchgear panels.
• Making Bill of Materials (BOM) for ordering purpose & issuance of same for production process.
Job Responsibilities:
• Planning (2003-2004), scheduling, execution & material management for production related orders of MV & LV Switchgear panel boards. Vendor handling for outsourcing jobs. Co-ordination with Purchase for ordering of components & follow ups.
• Procurement (2001-2002) of Switchgear components. Procurement from local & international market. Involved in price & technical negotiations; follow up with suppliers & ensuring in time delivery of components to meet the sales target.
• Sales & Execution (2000-2001): Cost estimation, offers preparation, order execution, delivery, tender working of LV, MV Switchgear Panel Boards & Package Substations. Co-ordination with customers, suppliers & internal depts. for order execution.
