Accountabilities.

• Responsible for sourcing of travelware products across categories in India for the two brands of the company, Princeware and Pronto.
• Also heading product development functions for new product category of backpacks for the two brands.
• Developed a range of products across price points for the brands in various price points as per the brand needs.
• Managed a team of professionals undertaking development, merchandising, sourcing and production activities in India for travelware business.
• Also involved in procurement and sourcing for travelware from China for the two brands.
• Involved in sourcing of house ware plastic products from China for the Company’s flagship brand: Princeware.
• Managing entire supply chain of raw material for procurement of travelware products being outsourced from various vendors across the country.

Head India Sourcing at VIP Industries Ltd

Accountabilities.
• Developed the infrastructure for the procurement of luggage and allied categories including hand bags category from India which was practically non existent prior to 2011.
• Added new capacities to service product categories like uprights, backpacks, duffles, duffle trolleys to achieve the sourcing quantities and start new products in India and add value to the business of the company.
• Single handedly achieved a volume growth from over 4000 pieces per month in joining period of Feb 2011 to about over 125000 pieces in January 2015.
• Personally developed a team of professional handling 14 vendors across the country across all product categories and these vendors are exclusive to VIP production. Besides these there were about a dozen empanelled suppliers who took care of sudden spurts in demand from market including institutional business.
• Achieved business growth from Rs.4.5 Crores in 2010-11 to Rs.74.00 Crores for the year of 2014-15 for India Sourcing business from all categories. (FOB purchase values).
• Responsible for developing infrastructure across locations in India for manufacturing including a exclusive unit for backpacks in Rudrapur in Uttaranchal in non excise zone with a capacity of 50000 pieces per month.
• Responsible for launch of new products in all major brands of the company like VIP, SKYBAGS, ALFA and ARISTOCRAT as well as a new value line for Ladies hand bags range in CAPRESE which got a good response in the market.

Role in Bangladesh Project.
I was on the board of VIP Industries Bangladesh Pvt. Ltd. which is 100% owned subsidiary of the VIP Industries Ltd, Mumbai, India formed in 2012 for setup of soft luggage manufacturing facility in Bangladesh for 2013-14. This involved frequent visits to Bangladesh and interaction with various government agencies to get the project moving ahead as per budgeted time lines.
• Actively involved in the project from the stage of plot selection up to the final closure of the construction in September 2013 and commencement of commercial production in November 2013. This involved the team selection, raw material supplier selection, logistics service provider selection and all modalities to get the project up and running.


India Sourcing.
• The challenge of this assignment is to develop the vendor base across India and recruiting new vendors for the company’s brands, nurturing them and making them work towards achieving efficiency in production along with best quality standards and most importantly making them cost competitive compared to China Imports.
• I was responsible for development of vendors supplying good quality backpacks in Skybags and ALFA brands resulting in exponential growth in the business of backpacks procured from India. Also the growth of sales in the backpacks category in Skybags and ALFA brands was the highlights of the company's performance in 2013-14 & 2014-15 & India sourced products were almost 50% of the product portfolio to the tune of 45000 pieces in December 2014.
• We developed suppliers across category of ladies hand bags in CAPRESE brand launch in 2013 and was also successful in launching the value line for hyper markets from India vendors in summer of 2015.
