The Resident Engineer. Is the head of site supervision team assigned to a particular project, well familiar with all aspects of Pace’s Quality
System, in particular the Quality Manual, the Procedures Manual and applicable Work Instructions. Broadly speaking, the Resident Engineer
shall be in charge of the following duties:
- Conduct supervision responsibilities in adherence to guidelines as indicated in Pace Supervision Manual; ensure that supervision guidelines are being adhered to by site interior designers/architects at all times.
- Guide, support and manage supervision team duties to ensure accurate preparation of project construction documents and communication with and coordination of the preparation of documents with contractors and team members.
- Coordinates with the HO projects managers regarding design and documentation issues.
- Action all construction contract correspondence with contractor(s), client and construction manager (if applicable).
- Issue instructions to contractor for their action to comply with the construction contract time and quality requirements.
- Action the client's instructions to modify the works in consultation with the head office if involving change to the design.
- Liaise with the head office designers and statutory authorities to resolve site queries.
- Hold progress/coordination meetings to expedite the works, and issue to the client and Pace Head Office regular project progress reports.
- Issuing Site work Instructions and Variation Orders. The study of proposals made by the Employer or Contractor for alterations to the Contract requirements leading to Variation Orders.
- Review the construction materials, technical data and finishes samples submitted by contractors; ensure compliance against ministerial requirements and technical specifications.
- Review and process contractor payments and variation orders. Review and advice client on contractor claims.
- Issue substantial and final completion certificates. Prepare and follow up snag lists.
- Carry out Pace administration and human resource procedures for site supervision staff.
- Issue Pace supervision invoices to the client for payment and follow up the payment until received.
