Orthopedic training and surgical experience:

During the six years of professional education as an orthopedic trainee I learned and applied all basic techniques for physical exploration of a patient to evaluate the underlying pathology of the orthopedic problem, including special techniques for knee and shoulder problems and compression pathologies of periferal nerves. Frequently attending international congresses for orthopedic surgery, and performing thorough clinical exams to evaluate the degree of a possible disability following road traffic and domestic accidents for medical legal reports, did allow me to significantly deepen my knowledge and experience to detect the orthopedic pathology and initiate the appropriate treatment.

My extensive surgical training in different hospitals in Germany and England ranges from small out’ patient and day case procedures like carpal tunnel decompression, trigger finger release, hammer toe correction, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, skin tumour removal, reduction of dislocated joint and displaced fractures or, within others, removal of osteosinthetic material, to more sophisticated in’ patient procedures like hip and ankle arthroscopy, joint replacement (hip, knee, shoulder, ankle), Dupuytren ś contracture, spinal laminectomy and decompression, nerve decompression at the upper and lower limb, and open reduction and internal fixation of fractures at the upper and lower limb. During the last almost two decades I intensified my knowledge and experience with surgical procedures for the upper and lower limb, in particular hip and knee surgery.

Teaching at November

Following the opening of my private out’ patient clinic I have had several German medical students who where in their final two years of training. The teaching involved clinical exam of new patients, starting and continuing treatment, performing minor out-patient procedures under my supervision and assisting me in major elective orthopaedic interventions.

During my time in the UK, I was regularly involved in teaching orthopaedic trainees. This included weekly theoretical teaching sessions as well as practical teaching for patient exam and diagnosis, planning of therapies and performing minor orthopaedic operations as well as assisting me in major orthopaedic procedures.
