As a Mechanical Instructor
1) Prepares lesson plans and delivers instruction to students.
2) Supervises students in classroom, lab, field trips, and other hands-on experiences.
3) Develops teaching materials, activities, assignments, projects, and assessments for each course taught.
4) Oversees lab activities and assists with supply inventories.
5) Abides by policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Division, and the Department.
6) Participates in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the program.
7) Serves on department, division, and college level committees.
8) Performs related duties such as advising students on curricula and acting as adviser to student organizations.
9) Seek opportunities for professional development.
10) Assists with keeping the shop organized and maintained.
As a Maintenance supervisor
1. Supervises and coordinates efforts of the maintenance staff. Recommends new hires, discipline, and contributes to performance appraisal. Responsible for training, coaching, and communications to the maintenance staff.
2. Performs or assigns work to repair and maintain mechanical equipment, including heating and air conditioning. Diagnoses problems. Disassembles units, cleans, lubricates, repairs, and replaces parts.
3. Performs or assigns routine to difficult carpentry duties, including installation of new doors and installation or repairs of doorjambs, moldings, hinges, door closers, locks, knobs, etc. Also, may include drywall or plaster repair and painting duties.
4. Performs or assigns routine to difficult electrical duties, including inspecting and testing lighting, wiring and power circuits, replaces faulty switches, replaces faulty lamps and ballasts.
5. Performs or assigns routine to difficult plumbing duties, including unclogging sinks and toilets, repair of faucet, assemblies and replacement of washers, repairs or replacement pipes, repair of fountains, etc.
6. Interface with contractors and vendors. Depending on property needs, creates written specifications and secures bids for services in accordance with established bid process. Solicits bids, negotiates with vendors for goods and services.
7. Performs or assigns preventive maintenance duties.
As HSE supervisor
1) Coordinate and provide assistance in administering health, safety and environmental programs.
2) Assist with the implementation and compliance with the OSHA Health.
3) Maintain HSE Policies and Procedures ensuring compliance with government regulations and OSHA policies.
3) Work closely and effectively with employees while providing HSE training (especially new employee training and/or current staff refreshers) and assistance to ensure a safe, healthy and incident free workplace.
4) Work closely and effectively with supervisors and managers to ensure employee compliance with HSE Policies.
5) Provides analysis and monitoring of different HSE programs including Key Performance Indicators.
6) Provide assistance with employee injuries and provide case management, in conjunction with OSHA Policies.
7) Provide input into case management for employee off-the-job injuries ensuring a safe return-to-work.
