Establish Innovation Strategy for the Group

Responsible for managing the Quality Assurance Group and Practices at Emirates Group IT across all business lines, Group Services, HR, Finance, Airline Airport Operations, Cargo, Passenger Services, Internal IT, Group Safety and Security, Leisure and Agencies and Commercial Planning departments.

Regional Head of Testing Services: Responsible for providing regional direction for the IT Projects Testing operations to meet the goal of improved quality and service availability for the Middle East region. Ensure adherence to HSBC Group standards, methods and tools, best-practice for testing, and optimise testing and re-use of test assets for the region and for the HSBC Group. Manage several teams of Analysts and Technology Specialists with the responsibility of testing business requirements for new system implementations.

Establish staff training plans and capability matrix based on the business domain expertise, application knowledge and analysis skills required. Responsible for setting up work practices with adherence to organizational standards. Establish, review and optimize department processes and procedures. Ensure the most effective tools and techniques are employed to drive the department strategy. Align goals with the regional Balanced Score Card in support for the regional strategy.

Primary responsibilities:
Providing regional direction for testing roadmap to meet the goal of improved quality and service availability
Align department goals with the regional Balanced Score Cards to ensure alignment to the bank’s strategy
Implement HSBC Group standards, methods and tools, best-practice for testing, and to optimize re-use of test procedures for the region and for the HSBC Group.
Manage the training, development and performance of all staff in the operation to ensure that they have suitable skills to undertake their roles effectively and develop their careers;
Developing and maintaining high quality relationships and an effective, business centric solutions approach amongst teams.

Secondary responsibilities:
Business Information Risk Officer, working with the Group Informational Risk and Compliance department to conduct regular reviews of internal processes, develop plans to implement corrective measures to rectify deficiencies and ensure department compliance with the HSBC Group policies.
Sarbanes Oxley Audit Coordinator, working with the Group Audit department to execute annual audit plans and ensure compliance with the Group policies and SOX methodologies.
Training and Career Progression: Lead the development of a Training and a Career Progression framework that consists of the following aspects:
o Identify competencies required for the IT department
o Develop gap analysis of the current staff members capabilities and training requirements
o Establishing a career progression matrix for the various roles in the department
o Standardize the roles and job descriptions based on the Group Role definition
o Establishing a capabilities assessment framework based on the Group Capabilities matrix/industry practices
o Use the framework to align the department's training investments to develop the staff required capabilities
Governance and Target Operating Model: Lead the creation of the department Governance and Target Operating model based on industry standards governance model. Align department goals with business goals to ensure the HSBC optimize investment on projects.
People Engagement Champion (Global People Survey): influence employees’ engagement score to meet annual Balance Score Card targets by developing action plans for managing department’s employee’s engagement issues.
Planning and Finance: working with the regional Planning and Finance department on AOP, annual budget and department targets, business recharges and recoveries, annual resource plan, annual technology plan and yearly forecast for environment capacity plan.

Regional IT Support Manager: Responsible for the UAE IT Support operations for over 4, 600 employees across 13 countries in the Middle East region. My function consisted of 46 staff, which included IT User Support managers, Technology Specialist. Conduct reviews and restructuring of the support function to optimise the support services and to help increase productivity. Build competencies in the team by developing training plans and capabilities matrix by business domain.

Responsible for leading the end user device strategy in alignment with the HSBC Group standards and directives

Project Manager, managed the delivery of a projects for Abu Dhabi Financial Services, Investment Banking Divisions, Commercial Banking and Retail Banking. Manage the development and implementation of Online Share Trading System (E-Trade), Fund Registrar System, Initial Public Offering-IPO, Customer Relation Management System-CRM3.0 Dynamics, Etisalat SMS Gateway message delivery and tracking System, working with cross-functional team of stakeholders, to meet program objectives. Report on progress to senior-level management and conducted post-implementation analyses to determine areas for program improvement.

Responsible for developing training plans for the Business Transition phase to ensure that the business users are equipped to handle the new systems and processes with minimal business disruption.

Senior Software Developer/ Business Analyst, working on the development of PowerPay for Datacom Employer HR Services, known as the largest payroll HR services provider in New Zealand. This service manages and maintains mainly HR payroll and involves report and employee pay slips generation, company cost allocation, government employment legislation, Billing, E-Filing, and Banking services.

Working on this project employed the use of .NET Framework C#.NET, VB.NET, Windows applications, .NET Remoting, Visual Studio .NET, Visual Source safe, SQL Server 2000

Working on the development of SmartTrade, which is a groundbreaking Job Management system. This software utilises hand-held devices (pocket pc’s) to link field staff with the office, enabling complete mobility when dispatching and managing jobs. Working on this project employed the use of .NET Framework VB.NET, .NET Compact Framework, Windows applications, Visual Studio .NET, Visual Source safe, SQL Server 2000, SQL CE and Pocket PC devices.

I was involved in writing technical specifications for system enhancements and the development of major parts of the application including:

1. Job Re-scheduling interface
2. File Jobs Attachment Interface
3. Mobile Application custom controls (With Design Time Support)
4. Mobile device setup wizard (Both for Server and Mobile Application)
5. Unit testing project development
6. Reporting (Using Active Reports)
7. Re-Architecting/Re-Developing the SmartTrade Mobile application.
8. Job re-routing for Smart Trade mobile application
9. Application performance review and enhancement
10. NZA Gold, MYOB and Quick Books export/import plugins
11. Developing plug-in architecture framework and system components for the system.
12. Utilising the Microsoft Application blocks (including the new Microsoft Enterprise Library)

Java PL/SQL Developer with the New Zealand Oracle Supply and training partner. I have worked on a number of different contracts as part of a team as follows:
• Front/Back-end developer working on contracts for the development of an Invoice Interfaces for the New Zealand Department of Internal affairs, the Ministry of Health and Auckland District Health Board. Working on these projects employed the use of Oracle Applications, UNIX, PL/SQL and Java.

• Back-end developer working on the contract for the development of an Oracle XML Invoice Gateway for Place Makers. Working on this project employed the use of Oracle Applications, Oracle XML Gateway Message Designer, Microsoft BizTalk Server, PL/SQL UNIX and Java.

.NET Software Developer with this leading, global Online Payment Provider. I have worked on a number of different contracts as part of a team as follows:
• Front/Back-end developer working on the contract for the development of www.banqonit.net, the leading Online Payment Provider. Working on this project employed the use of ASP.NET C#, Visual Studio.NET Web/Windows applications and services, .NET Remoting, Proxying services, Security, SQL Server 2000, IIS setup and configuration, HTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).



• Developer working on a contract for an Automated Billing tool for Secure Settlement LTD. Working on this project employed the use of the .NET Framework C#, Windows applications, Visual Studio .NET, .NET Remoting and Web Services.

• Back-end developer working on the contract for the development of www.zponline.co.nz, the website for the Healthcare Logistics. This site was built using Site server, so I had some exposure to that as well as using ASP, LDAP, SQL Server 7.0, HTML, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
