Project Name : Digital Library
Description of the Project:
The project aim to research and build the digital library community in Qatar,
supporting digital library use, services, collection development, tailored systems, and
advancing toward the Knowledge Society in Qatar.
Project Duration : 2012-2015
Duties :
* Provide Arabic-English support across communities for more effective services
with the digital library project
* Assist in organizing workshops and seminars related to the project
* Responsible for managing and updating project website
* Manage local budget activities
* Any other relevant activities related to the project as appropriate
* Other duties as assigned
* Assist in researching new developments in computerized library systems and
information technology.
* Assist in the selection and installation of all enterprise applications in QU Library.
* Assist in the maintenance of and troubleshoots problems related to the Enterprise
applications deployed in QU Library.
* Assist in analyzing QU Library application requirements, individual user
requirements and industry trends to advise on enhancements to available
applications/acquisition of new applications
* Assist in Implementation, upgradate and customization of Millennium system.
* Coordinate with the selected vendor and respective Department Heads for
implementation of Enterprise applications.
* Maintain cordial relations with Enterprise application development vendors to
ensure timely delivery of services as per agreed timelines and quality.
* Coordinate and facilitate training programs to ensure users are adequately
trained on new applications
* Provide staff training sessions related to relevant new technologies, including ILS
updates
* Respond to staff and patron ILS inquiries
* Maintain campus proxy server and URL link resolver
* Act as liaison between the library and campus ITS department
* Provide computer hardware and software support
* Generate ILS and website usage statistics

Project Name: RAWAFED Project
Description of the Project:
The project aimed to implement Millennium, Library Information Management
System, which includes four main modules in addition to a number of sub-modules
and tools. The latter include: WebPac; Electronic Resource Management; Output
Accounting System; WebBridge LR; Pathfinder Pro; Media Management; Web Access
Management. This implementation is expected to provide significant improvement in
the services provided by QU library to its stakeholders; most services will be
available on-line. Moreover, QU library records will be converted into the widely used
MARC21 format to promote higher level of efficiency in acquiring and maintaining
library holdings. Part of the implementation will handle integration between
Millennium and QU academic, financial and HR systems. QU will make the maximum
effort to realign current library policy and procedures with international standards
paving the way for the minimum level of any required customization
