Most important duty is customer service. I advises consumers at auto dealerships or car repair facilities about the need for regular maintenance. I listens to their concerns and their requirements, then prepares orders that describe the problem, the potential fixes needed, the time it takes to complete the repair and the estimated cost, broken down by labor and parts. For customers who cannot afford or do not want the recommended repairs, I can offer alternatives and explain the consequences of those options. Finally, I handles any complaints the customer may have and makes sure she/ he is satisfied with the service.
Technical Skills
Mechanical skills are also necessary to the job. I must be able to diagnose problems based on what the customer initially tells them and by asking the right questions, then I visually inspect the area of concern for additional clues before conveying this information accurately to mechanics, who can locate the problem and apply the correct fix. When mechanics are done, I must be able to translate complex automotive terms and procedures into something that consumers can understand. I must explain how repairs were made and justify the consumer’s cost.
