• Hedging all the exposures for the physical desk - Constant interactions with the physical traders to assess their positions and then independently hedge the exposure with the best possible instrument based on technical analysis, current and future market view.
• Managing all positions arising from our Oil Indexed Gas and Power Contracts at Ruhrgas and providing flow for all E.On subsidiaries - Hedging any and all oil exposures for the different businesses like Coal, Gas and Power. Also managing illiquid oil exposures of our external counterparties across Europe (positions handed over via our local offices)

• Daily interactions with Risk, Treasury, Finance, Legal and Compliance to ensure smooth running of the desk within the Board recommended guidelines.
• Helped set up new counterparties and brokers in line with existing regulatory requirements.

• Heading up the Oil Risk desk - Daily interactions with traders to discuss various hedging strategies and market outlooks.
• Daily reporting and analyses of PnL, including Par and VaR calculations.
• Provide analysis as and when required.
• Help set up physical trading book.
• Use my expertise gained in Glencore to help establish E.On Energy Trading as a trading house for Oil - EET was only allowed to trade paper and limited to European Fuel Oil and Gasoil. I single handedly ensured that we can now trade all products across US, Europe and Asia.

Gasoline and Naphtha Operations (London)
Handled barge and vessel operations for North West Europe - This included all aspects, right from contracts and LC’s to final invoicing.
Learnt basics of blending and storage in North West Europe - Have a good working knowledge of various specs and how they can be blended from various components.
Marketing gasoline, jet and gasoil in Congo - began

Helped organise and structure the global Light Ends book so that it may be run in a uniform manner.
Helped train the London risk managers for the LPG, Naphtha and Gasoline books.
Gained in depth knowledge of the Africa business, especially Nigeria and Congo.
Responsible for accurately reporting daily trading positions and PnL for Gasoline and Naphtha for London, Singapore and US.
Responsible for generating trading and management pnl with a detailed breakup of pnl generated by region.
Create an analysis of our current and future blending margins to determine which components to buy, sell or store.
Periodically graph the correlation between various commodities to try and analyse trends to build the spec book and also suggest the best possible instrument to hedge physical lengths or shorts with.
Helped traders with analysis for various external projects such as refinery acquisitions etc.
Prepare VAR reports for the desk.
Prepare exposure reports.
Ensure the book is IAS compliant.

• Started as risk manager for the gasoline desk, but learnt how to cover risk for almost the entire office within 2 years.
• Apart from gasoline, managed risk for the naphtha, LPG and freight desks.
• Covered risk for the crude and derivatives desk when the risk manager went on maternity leave.
• Periodically covered risk for Fuel Oil and Middle Distillates.
• Trained risk managers across the barrel in the Singapore office.
• Responsible for accurately reporting daily positions and PnL.
• Assist traders in analysing physical deals and suggesting hedging strategies.
