Since April 2019 till September 2019, worked as a Regional Head for Business Services and Compliance Middle East & South Asia (MESA) covering Pakistan, UAE, Oman, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka with “ACCA”. ACCA is one of the world’s forward looking organization, with its operations in more than 100 countries. ACCA has 219, 000 qualified members and 527, 000 students worldwide. As a Regional Head my role includes the following
Ensuring offices are in alignment and managed in accordance with ACCA global property asset management strategy, providing guidance to regional stakeholders and developing a property asset plan in conjunction with the head of operational service delivery. Working with finance, ensuring appropriate provision of financial management procedures within the offices (market and operational budgets). This includes financial reporting, tax filing, tax compliance and implementation. Ensuring alignment of in-scope compliance with ACCA strategy, legislative and adopted standards, this includes periodical internal reviews to ensure that compliance procedures are followed. Building strong relationship with senior stakeholders and others across the business to ensure the requirements of function are understood and that the effectiveness of the compliance element of business service is understood and viewed as delivering positively towards overall strategy of ACCA. Managing the customer experience through the use of a customer experience strategy and communication plan in order to ensure high standards of customer satisfaction wherever possible contributing positively to ACCA's overall core business objective. Acting as a regional risk manager, managing and mitigating risks within the parameters defined by the head risk. Taking a role of leader and line manager for regional based team members providing effective deployment of internal resources. Ensuring smooth operations for IT, HR, Facilities and overall business continuation.
Since March 2015 till Feb 2019, working as a senior accountant with “The Salvation Army” Pakistan. Salvation Army is one of the world’s largest NGO with its operations in more than 120 countries. The army has 134 corps (Offices), 10 divisions and 12 institutes with various small & big projects in operation in Pakistan. As a senior accountant my role includes the following Responsible for overlooking all the transactions being posted for Divisions and Institutes along with multiple foreign funded projects, plus looking over the role of the cashier on daily basis. Finalizing the cash sheets (Income and Expense) posting them into the accounting software and producing final report on monthly and weekly basis. Main correspondence with banks regarding operational (handling 63 bank accounts) and non-operational activities. Responsible for writing the Minutes and the Agenda for The Territorial Finance Council (TFC) as secretary to Secretary for Business Administrator. Assisting the Internal Audit Department on producing monthly and weekly reports. Acting as a representative for Salvation Army in assisting the external auditor (PWC) for finalization of annual audit. Assisting the Chief Accountant in preparation for annual budget, its review and overall variance analysis covering both financial and non-financial aspects. Assisting the Chief Accountant in preparation of final accounts. Assisting the Chief Accountant in fund management. Matters related to Taxation. Filing of returns. Involved in the new auditors selection process.(Beauty Parade) Member for penal of Experts for new candidates selection process for finance department. Representing finance department for annual budget training sessions. Conducting training sessions for new Divisional Finance Officers on quarterly basis
Over the past years at FMC I have acquired expertise in following areas.
Preparation of Comprehensive income, Statement of financial position, Statement of cash flows and statement of changes in equity, Bank reconciliation statement, Segmental reporting, Budgeting, Preparation of fund accountability statement for NGO’s under the guidelines of USAID. Using various business models including the 5 Porter and PESTEL model to facilitate the client in Strategic decision making for various products. Banking responsibilities including correspondences with the banks. Maintaining proper books of accounts and implementing controls to overcome the problem of incomplete records/single entry by clients. Understanding of internal controls and procedures of a given entity, evaluating them and determining the risky areas and finding solutions to mitigate risk and further enhance entity’s growth. Applying variance analyses and drafting report on its outcome. Report writing and presentation skills. Managing small and medium teams and working under tight schedule. Leadership and supervision qualities in order to achieve efficiency, effectiveness and economy in any given entity.
