I am working as full time with one of the U.K based Cost Consultant and my major responsibilities includes but not limited to Cost planning & Preparation of Pre-Tender cost estimates, Budgets of MEP systems (HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection), Labor and equipment for construction projects based on quotations, schematic drawings and specifications. Advising Client on Various Procurement Routes like Traditional, Design & Build, Management Contracting etc. Advise the client & management the changes in cost and budget at various stages of project like Design stage, Tender stage & Construction Stage. Issuing the ITT documents to various subcontractors like Form of Contract, BOQ’s. Drawings & specifications. Study & evaluation of Tender returns based on clients & project requirements. Quantity take-off and BOQ preparation as per POMI or NRM 1 & 2 Standards. Measurement and agreeing 100% Interim & Final Quantities with the contractor. Review of monthly payment application submitted by contractors & recommending progress payment.
I worked as full time in Commercial & Tendering Department on various projects like Airports, Hospitals, Schools, Housing developments, Metro Rail and my key responsibilities were to prepare cost estimates for mechanical works i: e HVAC, Fire Fighting & Plumbing on Excel and Candy Construction software that includes Bill Creation, Pricing markups, Rate analysis on worksheets, creating simple & complex resources for estimation database, subcontract adjudication, developing project codes etc. I recognized the scope of work by reviewing the tender documents, i.e. B.O.Q, Drawings and Specifications. I collected, studied and selected the appropriate Offers for the mechanical works from Sub‐Contractors, manufacturers and suppliers with regular inquiry follow-ups. I raised technical queries to be clarified by the consultant or client. I priced all mechanical systems like AHU’s, FCU’s, Data center CRAC units, Exhaust Fans, Heat Exchangers, Centrifugal & Screw Chillers, Pumps, Ducting & Piping, Storm drainage system, water supply system, Firefighting pipes sprinklers, valves, FM200 / Novec123, Foam fire suppression & Helipad fire suppression etc. I performed value engineering to arrive the maximum cost saving.
I was based in head office to work as full time in Tendering department to support my commercial manager in preparing of MEP construction related cost estimates, cost plans, and cost strategies. I was responsible to review drawings and specifications to determine scope and quantities to calculate pricing. I Interacted with sub-contractors of various trades to obtain pricing for projects & determined quantities of materials in various trades by using estimating department software. I also attended the pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess the conditions of the site or existing building and consulting with clients, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
• Study all the conditions and scope of work in the Invitation to Tender Documents (ITT) and perform material Takeoff.
• Preparation of accurate detailed cost estimate of all HVAC & PIPING systems as per the project specifications.
• Preparing Bill of Quantities according to the P& ID’s and reviewing specifications.
• Coordinating with the suppliers of MEP equipment’s for quotations.
• Compare quotations to ensure compliance with specification and to prepare list of delivery time to identify long lead items which ensures timely project completion.
• To consider competitive price for equipments by considering the Incoterms, specification compliance and delivery period as mentioned in the quotations.
• Identification of discrepancies in tender documents and obtaining clarification from client / consultant.
• Perform site inspections of work in order to perform accurate quantity takeoff.
• Preparing technical qualifications for any deviations according to the project specification along with costing.
• To prepare the details of list of proposed manufacturer along with country of origin.
• To perform Value engineering in compliance with the post tender clarifications.
• Assisting the Senior Quantity Surveyor for Dubai International Airport Concourse project site by performing the following tasks.
• Complete site inspections on a regular basis, recording measurements and variations.
• Measuring of work completed from drawings, schedules and variations claims.
• Measuring of work completed on site but not specified in the drawings and report them accordingly.
• Reporting discrepancies between actual construction and drawings.
• Assist the QS in preparing costs and new rates.
• To convert all items measured into a final measure valuations.
• To measure Sub Contractor work for tender enquiries and monthly payments.
• To measure Sub Contractor work for final accounts.
• To monitor and check the accuracy of work delivered by self and subordinates.
I was recruited from my college to start my career in construction industry. Initially i coordinated at the site for smooth progress of the projects, prepared shop drawings for consultant approval. I also procured materials and coordinated with suppliers for testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment, material and Man power planning, site administration, billing.
