The National Institute of Science and Technology (ISTN) was established on December 5, 1950, today to become one of the long-standing Private Technical High Schools in Indonesia. ISTN was founded by Prof.Ir. Roosseno, one of the Indonesian concrete experts, with the aim at the time of its founding was to upgrade the ability of middle-level Indonesian engineers to take over and replace Dutch engineers who returned home after Indonesia's independence.
