Providing direct support for our structured derivative trading desk has led to exposure with relationship managers, traders, structurers, sales, business management, legal, custodian, and settlements from front to back office. This role has equipped me with the below key skills and experiences:

• Supporting fund derivative traders through trade bookings, due diligence, internal reporting, and stakeholder management. Successfully enhanced the due diligence of the internal trade support booking systems by identifying and implementing more rigorous approval processes.
• Integral part of the entire trade life-cycle process from front through to back office. This includes pre-trade agreement, trade execution, liaising with relevant stakeholders and trade settlement for various products such as equities, fixed income and rates.
• Assisting through portfolio monitoring of assets under management and ensuring that thresholds are adhered to. Assisting with analysis if products and market data available internally and externally.
• Accurate initiation of fund and product set up through coordination with business management, IT and other internal departments. Manages front office requests to new business and assists with the KYC processes through effective due diligence, thereby consistently ensuring infrastructure is in place in all subsequent systems and exchanges in time for issuance and fund launches. This will be pertaining to transactions, documentation approval and client relationship management.
• Systematic and detailed preparation of reporting on client positions which is done on a monthly basis.
• Thorough management of set up, trade capture and trade flow across systems such as Bloomberg, Summit, Imagine, Autobahn, Mantra, Clearstream and E-spear.
• Providing weekly reporting of information to senior management which encompasses issues, projects and successes. Various reconciliation tasks are performed on a monthly and weekly basis.
• Ensuring documentation meets the required regulatory standards and are up to date.
• Daily management of various Global Funds Derivatives (GFD) products (Certificates, Warrants, Notes, Special Purpose vehicles) as well as interaction with futures, forwards, SWAPs, and NAV reconciliations.
• Provide precise monthly reporting of volumes and maintaining adequate records of client communication.

Securities Lending -Middle office Operations - Credit Risk and Exposure

Within this team I broadened my knowledge of the securities lending business and became a key member of a high-pressure environment. Working as an analyst has provided me with the following core skills:

•A client service focused role in which I managed exposure risk/margin calls across various counterparties both bilateral and tri-party clients such as Blackrock, JP Morgan, BNY Mellon and Barclays with account values ranging from 100, 000 GBP up to 5 billion GBP (and equivalent in other currencies).
•Improved the team’s awareness on the capability of using the outsourced systems Pirum and Equilend. This was done by significant liaising with their IT support teams to help align the requirements from Deutsche Bank as a client and the services which were available on the platforms offered by Pirum and Equilend.
•Understanding and applying knowledge to book collateral accordingly for margin call requirements across cashpool, cash rebate and non-cash collateral types.
•Constant interaction with stock loan trading desks to provide support and report on any margin call issues and or confirmations needed to facilitate trade settlements.
•Daily management of Tri-party agents including BNY Mellon and JPM
•Overseeing entire trade cycle process for all collateral trades’ e.g. bonds and equities and ensuring these trades are allocated, confirmed and settled efficiently.
•Strong familiarity with key systems/platforms e.g. Global One, Equilend, Espear, iDelta, Pirum and Bloomberg.
•Carefully monitor trade discrepancies on a daily basis through contract compare and reconcile these differences with clients to meet exceptional resolutions.
•Adhering to stringent time constrictions and being aware of global market deadlines to ensure settlements of trades and liaising with all internal and external clients.

Transitions and Project Management

This role was performed during my internship which was supporting a project management team, facilitating in the movement of roles globally. This process allowed me to gain an understanding in the importance of key control functions to mitigate risk when outsourcing roles (i.e. compliance/data protection) and build my softer skills in stakeholder management and communication.

•Supporting document preparation by obtaining relevant information from stakeholders which provided evidence for governance. In addition, this reporting had to be validated, organised and communicated back to all levels from clients to senior management.
•Developing an understanding and awareness of project management within the Transitions team. This included growing my knowledge of the transitions process and methodology by shadowing project managers and tracking the progress of their projects throughout milestones and tollgates.
•Exposure to several different work-streams and understanding the importance of maintaining good relations with these work-streams as well as their engagement in the process.
