Key performance areas:
• Oversight of the four production facilities - Gypsum powder plant, Gypsum board plant, Fibrecement board

ModuPods is a startup business, focusing on supplying high end modular pod components to the growing
tourism and leisure industry within Saudi Arabia. The facility will supply high-volume, high-quality pods for
Hotels, Apartments and other residential developments in Saudi Arabia and across the GCC area.
Key performance areas:
• Business plan preparation and feasibility study for new business unit.
• FEED and implementation plan
• Co-ordination and oversight of third-party engineering services and drawings approvals
• Governmental approval of design and obtaining building permits and operating certificates.
• Project management of the factory building process through to commissioning.
• Selection and procurement of factory equipment
• Identifying and selecting staff resources for production facility.
• Set policies and procedures for operations along the various appointed department heads.

• Directing commercial, administration and operational activities.

Key performance areas:
• Technical project manager in the design, implementation and conversion of Everite permanent building
system to AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) blocks and precast panels from its current light gauge steel
modular panel system.
• Being involved in the business development and technical accreditation of AAC technology in South Africa.
Ensuring future local construction using the material, meets criteria set out by the National Standards Bureau
and Agrément South Africa.
• Project Management of all physical AAC mockup construction both for testing and marketing to potential
developments.
• Project management of high-profile hotel chain mockup with interior fit-out and acoustic performance testing
for possible material supply for all future affordable hotel projects.
• Technical liaison representing the company to both clients and professionals in order to create product
acceptance in the construction market in South Africa.
• Technical training on the Xella Ytong system in Holland for full change over in South African market.
• In charge of incorporating AAC costs into the QS function of ABT, in order to quote on project tenders
including international freight, shipping and customs duties, until local production can be established.
• Project management of an Australian patented modular collapsible mobile building technology, from design
development concept to completed prototyping. Implementation of full production of this product locally in
South Africa to distribute throughout Africa.
• Shifting production of international supply of the product in China through factory. Quality control
inspections in Mainland China on behalf of the Group. Ordering of product for stock and distribution in
Africa. In charge of sales of these units into the African marketplace.
• Successfully guiding Everite certification process for the issuing of Agrément certification - Everite ABT

• Oversee technical issues in relation to building related matters of alternative technologies used within the
group of companies.
• Management of the quantity surveyor personnel, drawing office and signing off all quotations, procurement
orders, drawings and documentation issued to clients.

for staff of Group Five Projects and other Group Five subsidiaries.

• Training of all staff on the equipment and procedures for both manufacturing and site installation of the
system both locally and internationally. Travelled to countries where there are license holders have purchased
the rights to build using the system.
• Design and quality management of more than 2500 homes in the low-income sector, churches, hotels, and
residential apartments and up market residential houses.
• Design, planning, execution of the production of homes for the ABSA Bank International Innovative Building
Technology Competition, which was won by Imison™ against over twenty international and local systems.

• Research and development to establish a market ready walling system consisting of a light gauge steel frame,
encapsulated in EPS insulation materials.
• Successfully guiding the technology to Agrément Certification, including drawings and all technical
specifications and testing performed. Agrément link: Imison™ Building Process - 2001/289 This included
erecting test structures for fire testing at the CSIR in Pretoria.
• Completing Patent applications for the Imison™ System including Patent drawings and patent descriptions
and liaising with the relevant Patent attorneys.
• Co-ordination of engineering calculations and tests and compiling presentable document for submission to
Local Building Authorities and testing agencies e.g. ASTM and UL. All results converted to imperial amounts
for the USA market too.
• Compilation of a process, training manual of the erection process of the Imison™ Building System to use in
training of staff in the USA.
• Physically erecting test wall structures in St. Louis, Missouri and Orlando Florida for review by clients and
Building Authorities to inspect.
• Design and detailing of test house in Apopka, Orlando for submission to the local building department.
Produced material lists and supplier information for the project, which was completed in March 2005.
