o Structural analysis of reinforced concrete & pre-stressed concrete bridges/structures subjected to permanent,
transient, seismic & accidental design situations through 3D Finite Element models using CSI Bridge, Midas Civil &
SAP2000 software.
o Developing In-house structural design Excel sheets according to latest editions of International standards.
o Design compliance to Egyptian & International standards, e.g. ACI, AASHTO, European, Canadian, Indian & Arab
Gulf countries.
o Coordination with other trades, e.g. Transportation, Geotechnical, MEP, Architectural & Environmental.
o Preparation of calculation notes & bill of quantities.
o Preparation of detailed design CAD drawings.
o Design Review of bridges.
o Technical assistance during the construction phase.
o Bar bending schedule and shop drawings.
o Bill of quantities.

Design Projects:
o Greater Cairo Metro Line III - Phase 4b, Egypt. Detailed design for a 15.8 km long metro line with 11 stations. The
alignment includes a 6.5 km long viaduct; 5 elevated stations; and one depot for heavy maintenance (workshop)
with 25 buildings.
Responsibilities included:
o Fully-coordinated detailed design of the elevated viaduct & ramp connecting the last elevated station to the
depot area.
o This part has variable number of tracks, turnouts, buffer stop, rail expansion device in addition to different
superstructure & substructure systems to satisfy numerous constraints underneath, e.g. vertical & horizontal
clearances for roadways/railways, retaining walls, gas lines & utilities.
o The superstructure systems include precast pre-tensioned U-beams, precast post-tensioned I-beams & solid
slabs. The substructure includes double-cantilever piers, portal frames & U-section retaining walls at ramp area.
o Design incorporation of the Rail-structure interaction (done by others) considering the rail expansion joint &
accidental forces due to the friction buffer stop.
o A complete set of coordination drawings is prepared including all power supply, signaling, track-works &
drainage system to ensure a clash-free construction.
o Complete technical assistance during construction.
o Rehabilitation of road EN230 - SUARIMO-MALANJE - ANGOLA
The Project covers part of National Highway Road EN230, which connects the capital city of Luanda with the inland
city of Saurimo in the Republic of Angola. The scope of work includes the rehabilitation of a 320km stretch along
EN230, starting in Malanje and ending at Rio Cacuílo Bridge around 320 km, passing through small towns and villages
Along the way. The road section to be rehabilitated is divided into 4 lots as follows:
o Package 1 - Malanje to Intersection with EN160 (Catombo Bundo), Malanje Province - Length 85km
o Package 2 - Intersection with the EN160 (Catombo Bundo) to Cangongo, Malanje and Lunda Norte Provinces -
Length 78km
o Package 3 - Cangongo to Cangola, Lunda Norte Province - Length 82km
o Package 4 - Cangola to Rio Cacuílo Bridge, Lunda Norte Province - Length 75km
The project include preliminary design of 4 bridges, 55 retaining wall and 120 culvert.
o Versova Bandra Sea Link (VBSL), India. Preliminary design and tender documents for a sea link consisting of 9.6 km
long, dual 4-lane carriageway main bridge; one cable-stayed bridge; & three balanced cantilever bridges.
Responsibilities included:
 Preliminary analysis of a 300m-long cable-stayed bridge via a detailed staged-construction model using Midas
Civil (built by others).
 Different tools/techniques are investigated for Stay force optimization & tuning (influence matrix, unknown load
factor).
 Design of piles of pylons & transition piers considering effects of different sets of soil springs & various pile-cap
configurations.
 Preliminary transverse analysis of precast box girder with transverse pre-stressing, taking into account different
statical systems from precast yard to being supported by the cable stays.
