Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the generation of permits for the completion of construction activities on site in line with safety requirements of the project and under the general procedure of the “SSOW” - Safe system of work.
2. Primary Duties
A. Discuss the scope of each activity that needs to be carried out including the safety requirements.
B. Carry out the assessment of risk for the activities that need to be completed and classify them as either level 1 or level 2.
C. Generate reports and formats required for permit and forward to the construction manager for his approval of the permits such as Hot work permit, Hot work naked flame, cold work etc.
D. Ensure that every activity is carried out as per client’s procedures post award of permit.
E. Coordinate with the representatives if installation work is being carried out for adherence to client’s procedures.
F. Inspect work in progress to ensure qualified employees are carrying it out as well as well as the adherence of quality procedures.
G. Recall the permit if the above is not followed.
H. Revalidate permits, which are of long-term duration and reschedule work if required.
I. Coordinate with the areas in charges for work being carried out in their respective area.
J. Carry out any other duties as required by the supervisor.
3. Job/Cost Impact Responsible for ensuring that permits are issued and monitored in line with the client’s requirements.
4. Decision Making Authority Actions are monitored by immediate supervisor, may stop activities if they are not as per permit procedures.
Operates and maintains 11 units -2MW KOHLER engines, logs data, status and condition of engine and its auxiliaries. Assist mechanical maintenance in engine overhauling as well as with the electrical maintenance works, LOTO, servicing, repairing. Performs trouble shooting during emergency situation. Performs housekeeping and other duties that may assign from time to time.
- Operates 5 units 30MW ZULZER 12ZV40/48zv engines and it's auxiliaries
- Tends and monitors ABB 40 MVA transformer also performs sub station maintenance/servicing GRAVINER MARK 5
- Tends ABBdpu, BASLER & GE console/switchboards
- Receives/checks lube oil and fuel deliveries
- Operates CLAYTON Exhaust Gas Boiler
- Trouble shoots and performs repairs PCB’s EPC 400 the like, daily job reports, schedule preventive maintenance
- Operates BRUNNER water treatment plant
