• As the pioneering Managing Director of the IFC Partner Company, Housing Development Finance Corporation Plc. (HDFC) in the Maldives, I am responsible for the day-to-day management of the Company by exercising the powers and duties set forth in the Charter, which constitutes the Memorandum and Articles of Association and the By-Laws of the Company.. Having rolled out its business plan upon privatization in 2008, recorded excellent achievements in growth, market share, business capacity development, and profits consistently over the last five years.
• Having laid a firm foundation for sustainable and responsible finance in this emerging market, HDFC was recognized as a trailblazer among the IFC partner companies with single recognition conferred in 2011 as the first to achieve strategic performance goals in the IFC Community of Practice using principles of Client Protection and Inclusive Finance. Since then, HDFC has successfully entered the London based FT/IFC Sustainable Finance Awards for three years running from 2011, and also received Business Initiatives Directions International Gold Star Award for Quality in Geneva in 2012 and the European Society for Quality Research Award in London in 2013.

Head of Credit, Marketing and Operations of the bank, which grew its balance sheet by 20-30% year on year under my watch, and increased the market share from 25% in 2002 to 40% by 2008 to be the market leader in the housing finance sector of Sri Lanka.
• Held positions of Deputy General Manager/Head of Credit, Operations and Marketing of the Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank of Sri Lanka from September 2002 to August 2008, taking the organization to greater heights, and becoming the market leader.

• Received recognition for leadership and contribution to achieving major corporate milestones including the conversion and positioning of the twenty-year old Corporation as a Licensed Specialized Bank in 2003, the first ever mortgage securitization in Sri Lanka with the Citibank in 2004 and a groundbreaking Initial Public Offering through the Colombo Stock Exchange in 2005.

• Secured the apex status for HDFC Bank in executing the 2006 ADB/World Bank Housing Finance Initiative, giving leadership to all registered commercial banks in Sri Lanka mandated to participate as directed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. HDFC Bank received the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka's Annual National Business Excellence Awards for five successive years between 2004 and 2008.
