ORYX GTL, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum and Sasol, is a Gas-to-Liquids facility processing 330 MMSCFD of natural gas to produce 34, 000 bpd of petroleum products (Diesel and Naphtha).

Responsibilities:

• Develop in house Feasibility and Basic Engineering (FEED) by ensuring the safety, cost reduction, revenue enhancement and sustainability for purpose design and completion within agreed time.
• Review and approve Detail Engineering Design (DED) developed by Contractor ensuring design accuracy, safety and quality standards are met.
• Monitor Project progress ensuring compliance with predefined procedures of management of change (MOC).
• Engineering Support to Project team in development of invitation to bid (ITB) packages, bids evaluation, responding to technical quarries and provide support in execution phase.
• Participate in design review meetings, risk assessment and project risk studies (HAZOP/SIL) and recommend course of action for risk mitigation.

Major Projects:

• Developed in house Conceptual and Front End Engineering to utilize around 25, 000 NM3/h Flare gas as fuel under MOE-Qatar Flare minimization initiative which results in 82 % reduction in tail gas flaring and 1.5 % production increase
• Performed up-gradation of entire plant firewater network to ensure the availability of Critical Emergency Response system which was undermining due to series of failures and had serious implication on Plant consent to operate (worth 5 Million USD)
• Conducted Basic and Detail Engineering for Flare Headers and Relief Devices evaluation / upgradation for 108% capacity under ORYX GTL Sustainability and Growth Program.
• Performed value engineering to replace FEED gas and BFW heaters which suffered plastic deformation, with better design exchangers. This prevent from potential catastrophic consequences and save overall 25 % per day production loss
• Developed a closed drain system for collecting and recycling of 22 manual drains operated during routine/maintenance activities. This eliminated 150 barrels of solid waste per annum and the risk involved during manual draining operation
• Developed blowdown system for propane loop overpressure protection on external fire as highlighted in plant overall HAZOP study and insurance audit, worth 500, 000 USD

•Ensure that the design, specifications, drawings and other data generated by the engineering Contractor meet the quality requirements and are in compliance with applicable codes, laws and regulations.

•Detail Engineering of 165, 000 BOPD, gathering center at Sabriyah field north of Kuwait.
•Front End Engineering of 121 km oil pipeline from north Kuwait to South east Kuwait
