Thesis: Studies in the genus Phellinus (Quel.) from Maharashtra. "Phellinus" is a medicinal mushroom (fungus), cause severe diseases to the plants mainly heart wood, therefore commonly known as Heart Rot Fungi. Following sudies were carried out during research tenure - Taxonomy : Survey, collection & preservation of ‘Phellinus’ species from different forest areas of Maharashtra. Identification techniques, naming, describing & illustrating, etc. Exploring forests for macro-fungi. Culture Study : Laboratory techniques pertaining to fungal cultures. General culture methods of macro-fungi etc. Ethnomycology : Medicinal properties of fungi especially from Phellinus, Ganoderma, Fomes, etc. Authentic uses of an Ayurvedic medicine, ‘Phansomba’ as a folk medicine in northern part of Maharashtra.
