for the Aliance Casabe Project Ecopetrol- Schlumberger
During 2012 I made a proposal to develop the facilities of the Peñas Blancas field with the following
objective: Design and construct surface facilities to implement the Peñas Blancas secondary
recovery in 15 month in order to inject 14KBWPD at 4000 psi and handle the associated production
of (4KBOPD y 10KBFPD) for July 2013. The scope included:
1. Design and installation of electrical installations of 34.5KV from CBES to Peñas Blancas 6.8
Kms in length; substation and electrical grid to feed the wells and the facilities electrical sub
estation.
2. Design and installation of the water injection plant for 14KBWPD and 4000psig.
3. Gathering, and multiphase pumping station, to transport all the fluids(4KBOPD, 6KBWPD
and 450KSCFPD) to Casabe south treating station.
4. Treating flow station in Casabe south at 9 kms from the Penas Blancas field(general
separator, thermal electrostatic treater, 4.1Kbls oil storage tank and a water treating system
for 12 KBWPD.
5. Automatization and signal transmission for producer wells, injection manifolds and process
variable for the Penas Blancas flow station and the water injection plant.
This work was presented to the Technical Committee and to the Managerial committee, the
economic evaluation its being reviewed to approve the project.
Also I did the complete analysis to handle the incremental flow in the FDP 2013 - 2015,
recommending to use the dilution of lighter crude from Casabe south and Penas Blancas, which
implies less investment(3.5 MMUS$) and make more economical the Penas Blancas Project.

I was involved initially defining the new planning group in the alliance as part of the Casabe
extension contract. I have being involved in projects concerning the facilities of the Casabe field
Identify bottle neck in the gathering, treating and delivering oil, water and gas and water injection
system for the Casabe, Peña Blanca and Casabe South fields.
I coordinated the FDP 2010-2013 for Casabe, proposing the projects to handle the fluids flow rates
for Casabe and Casabe south and getting approvals of the different projects with the Ecopetrol
representatives, such as: new fresh water wells for the injection targets, water injection capacity, oil
treatment capacities and facilities for the Casabe south.
As part of the Casabe south development after installing the 8”pipe line from Casabe to condor
stations, I coordinated with the Olga experts from Schlumberger the analysis to understand the high
pressure in the line when tried to pump a multiphase flow. Due to venting of the gas the amount of
gas was too low (< 300 SCFPD/BLS). And the flow regime was the churn flow a very chaotic flow
regime.
For the FDP 2011 -2014, I coordinated all the project resumes and did two main studies: new
electrical substation needs considering the producing oil wells to be incorporated in the plan and the
injection manifold hooking up the injection wells in the plan and the automation required to have a
high covertures. Lastly I participated in the field visit of the location for the wells to be drilled in the
year 2012.
I have also worked in the option of station 5 water reinjection to avoid drilling new fresh water wells
that would last only 1 year due to the need to re inject all the water produce from Casabe by June
2013.
