DCC is a relatively young college based on the American system of community colleges. It has both young and mature age male only college students for study towards entry to University both within and outside Saudi Arabia. In the Computer applications department I was full-time teacher of Information Technology subjects. Within the past year I taught Operating systems, Microsoft applications and website development to young adults.

Higher Colleges of Technology are a Federal system of higher education in the United Arab Emirates. I was full-time teacher of Information Technology, I taught mostly in the Diploma and Higher Diploma levels. Courses taught were Operating systems, Microsoft applications, computer networking and administration, programming (visual basic), system analysis, design and website development (Html, FrontPage and Dreamweaver). I supervised work-placement students; I also have coordinated computer laboratories used in delivering the courses.

I was appointed as a full-time teacher of IT at Mudgee TAFE and did around 19 hours of weekly face to face teaching along with doing Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education and Training which was completed during the first year of job. I was also Teacher in Charge (administratively equivalent to Head Teacher) in the country colleges. I was transferred to Lithgow College after two years of service where I spent three more years of full-time teaching and managed the role of Teacher in Charge at that college too.

A number of initiatives were started by the government to help people gain skills for the job market. As part of the Job Skills initiative Arshad taught three different classes of students doing work-preparation to teach them computer basics, Microsoft DOS, word-processing and spreadsheets. This was done with emphasis on useful Job skills.

PROJECT: 'Harmonic Behavior of Power System Loads'
Duties included:
• Design and construction of a controllable harmonics generator
• Experimentation on the effects of harmonics on typical power system loads
• Documentation associated with the above work including financial information (mostly done by various Apple Macintosh computers software)
