• Carries-out conceptual studies/front end design work and calculations for sizing and selection of electrical equipment for lighting and power equipments. Ensures that engineering of all electrical modification works is consistent and compliant to existing systems and specifications.
• Provides technical advice on strategies for various electrical engineering & modification projects and support Production and Maintenance teams in trouble shooting work.
• Provides input to scope of work documents for engineering and construction contracts/ Service Work Order.
• Supervises the Engineering &EPC/Construction Contractors work for all electrical related activities including any work impacting on power generation/distribution systems (including MCCs, Switchgears, etc.) lighting systems, earthing systems, Small power systems, etc. Ensures compliance with HSE standards and corporate policies & strategies.
• Assists in providing electrical engineering services and acts as technical authority for all matters related to electrical design and engineering.
• Coordinates with Project teams and Contractors’ engineering teams to provide technical guidance and expertise to ensure technical requirements are clearly understood and met. Reviews and approves related technical deliverables.
• Prepares and reviews material requisitions, technical bid evaluations and makes recommendation to management for approval.
• Checks and takes stock level of all electrical and electronic spare parts, to have sufficient and adequate stock levels. Continuously reviews requirement of spares for various activities against availability and makes requisitions for changes or new stock for equipment and machinery in the plant.
• Raises purchase request for different non-stock items as and when required by giving correct technical specifications for the parts or items required and liaisons with purchase in finalizing order with vendors.
• Participates in reviewing sub-contractors drawings and related documentations to ensure they meet design specifications. Comments on and approves the relevant documents and drawings and follows-up with Engineering Contractors to ensure the comments are incorporated into the drawings and related documentations.
• Participates in Main Equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and provides installation and commissioning support as required.
• Reviews the technical content of any Non Conformance Application (NCA) received from the Engineering Contractors. Recommends acceptance, acceptance with comment, or rejection of the NCA management. Ensures that all design changes are controlled and captured through Plant Change Request (PCR).
• Participates in engineering design reviews, safety studies and reviews like HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Analysis).
• Conducts all work activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times by not taking on any tasks that are perceived to be unsafe.
• Complies with the GASCO HSE Management System.
• Reports all incidents or near misses to GASCO HSE team through Incident reporting system.
• Demonstrates visible commitment to HSE by periodically leading and taking part in audits, HSE meetings, emergency drills, etc.
• Preparation of Warranty Notifications and performs other similar or related duties as assigned by Sr. Electrical Engineer.
• Responsible for implementations and monitoring of all electrical related works at site.
• Estimates, prepares and assigns the resources such as manpower, materials, consumables, equipment, tools, etc., required for all electrical and related works prior to execution.
• Plans and analyses all possible construction methodologies and recommends the best options to the Project Manager for approval prior to execution at site.
• Interprets construction drawings and studies the contract documents and applicable standards or specifications prior to execution of any jobs.
• Manages directly and provide engineering and technical supports to all the electrical work groups at site.
• Plans the execution of all electrical related works and coordinates the works to mechanical and civil groups.
• Coordinates with Client / Consultant’s representatives for any site instructions and inspection of works.
• Assign targets for accomplishments and ensure targets are met on daily basis for all electrical groups at site.
• Submits site daily reports, inspection requests, estimates and all applicable monitoring reports on regular basis or as required.
• Supports the Project Manager in accomplishing all the goals and targets for the electrical groups at site.
• Ensures that all the works done are in accordance with the approved construction drawings, contract documents, project specifications, and all applicable standards whether local, national or international standards.
• Ensures that all site works are done according to all applicable quality standards.
• Directly responsible for the safety of all electrical groups’ personnel of the project by ensuring that the project execution will be done according to all applicable health, safety, sanitary and environmental standards.
• Plans and prepares periodical preventative maintenance schedule at the beginning of each year and carries out duties mentioned therein in coordination with Sr. Electrical Engineer.
• Leads and Supervises electrical section in maintenance related activities and ensures that maintenance practices are carried out in accordance with accepted standard and industrial norms.
• Oversees in trouble-shooting complex electrical problems and failures by working closely with his team whenever required.
• Issues reports on major problems and failures, suggests suitable corrective actions to minimize or prevent recurrence of the problem.
• Formulates preventive maintenance schedule with associated procedures and checklists, periodically reviews the programs to evaluate its efficiency and suitably makes changes to the schedule and procedures, if necessary, based on feedback and field experience.
• Carries out stage and final inspection of repair jobs done by contractors either on site or in their facilities outside, evaluate their procedures and competency and witnesses the necessary tests before acceptance.
• Organizes daily routine checking and maintenance works.
• Monitors electrical maintenance jobs during shutdowns/break downs to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Checks completed work to ensure conformity to specifications and quality.
• Provides work direction to electrical technicians.
