I am a mechanical engineer in building construction and maintenance field and responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining HVAC systems, plumbing, and other mechanical systems within buildings and ensure that systems operate efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively, meeting the needs of the occupants and building regulations.
Design of sprinkler system as per standards (NFPA 13 & FM Global data sheets 2‐0, 3‐26, 7‐29, 8‐1 & 8‐9).
Design of standpipe to serve Firefighting Hose Reels and fire hydrant system as per standards (NFPA 14).
Calculate the water demand and design the Firefighting tank as per requirements.
Performing Elite Fire software based hydraulic calculations by two methods(supply and demand) in orderto calculate pump head and flow rate with adequate pipe sizes of external loops, feed main, cross main and branch pipe keeping hose allowances.
Generate the node numbers on the layout/plan drawings.
Design the seismic support and cable bracingsforthe scope of work area and calculate the seismic load aswellwith respect to zone of influence according to standards (NFPA 13, FM Global 2‐8).
Design of Fire pipe load of each area to check the building structure is capable or not to sustain the load.
Calculate the available NPSH calculation for the jockey pump and multi stage vertical turbine fire pumps.
Select & design of firefighting pumps (electric, diesel engine & Jockey pumps) as per FM Global & NFPA standards.
Firefighting Pump Room design (pipe sizes of fire pump suction & discharge, test line, pressure relief line, design of pump room seismic supports, design of pump room cables bracing and design of ordinary supports with utilization factor calculations) as per standards (NFPA 20, NFPA 13, FM Global Data sheet 2‐8).
Making concept design report, detailed design report, tender documents (Specifications, schedule of equipment and materials, approved manufacturer list and BOQ) of the projects.
Scrutinizing tender bids and preparing technical as well as financial comparison reports.
Analyzing shop drawings, material data sheets, equipment data sheets, As‐Built drawing.
Inspecting materials and installation works as per approved shop drawings, approved data sheets of materials.
Arrange online as well as on‐site meeting with client and contractors for solving project related issues.
Preparing progress reports and site observations based on site conditions.
Shift Engineer at Blue Band Margarine Department:
Responsibilities of smooth and safe operations of plant along with strict compliance of food safety policies and HACCP implementations.
To check and ensure that all processing parameter are in line with approve standard and as per process specifications and execute production plan.
Calculate machine efficiencies on shift basis and responsibilities of utilities.
Manage / arrange raw and packaging material according to shift basis activities.
Implementation of production plan and control wastage.
Responsibilities to execute SAP related activities (like create reservation, permit to work PTW entry, production of shift).
Design a planned maintenance program on monthly basis and handling of manpower.
Dolmen Mall Clifton Karachi (High Rise Building):
* Perform internship at the site of high‐rise building project (Dolmen Mall Clifton Karachi).
* Familiar with AutoCAD drawings of HVAC, Firefighting and Plumbing.
* Assist in job related activities with project team members by updating daily progress report about the project at site, and learn how to calculate BOQ of materials.
During internship I have been through three different departments of Amreli Steels.
* Production department: Taking overall knowledge about the process of manufacturing of steel through hot rolling.
* Maintenance department: Purpose of maintenance department is to minimize production loss.
* Utility department: I have seen function of cooling tower, hydraulic systems and combustion blower.
