• Manage and oversee Mechanical engineering projects of various sizes and complexity.
• Provide supervision, motivation and leadership to mechanical team.
• Provide thorough design check before document release for Permit, Tender and Construction issues. Prepare complete project specification. Review permit and contract documents for QA and QC.
• Meet assigned budgets and schedules for tasks.
• Liaise with client, sub-consultant and vendors to obtain project information and to discuss specific design related issues. Work with clients to deliver the end project.
• Prepare design narrative and coordinate with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical and site services) prior to commencement of design development.
• Attend weekly project meetings and long distance conference call meetings on the web.
• Assist in creating and presenting technical reports on design developments and study assignments.
• Perform mechanical (HVAC), public health and fire protection design review services for the PM-CM group of the organization
• Review design submittals and reports of other design consultants primarily to mitigate design related risks, improve design efficiencies, ensure compliance with client’s requirement, compliance with building codes and standards, coordination of disciplines and check for any VE opportunities
• Check all design data, mathematical calculations, energy models and layout plans based on project specific in house check list to ensure quality of design review and prepare reports those are submitted to clients and design consultants
• Participate in client workshops and close out all design review comments to the satisfaction of owner and consultants
• 23+ years experience in HVAC and Plumbing design and construction of shopping mall, offices, Bio Labs, surgical suits and renal dialysis center, airport terminal building, automotive plants, hotel and island resort villas.
• International work experience from United States, Canada, Bahrain, Qatar and India. Worked for British and American Consulting Engineering firms and local EPC contractors.
• 7+ years experience managing staffs.
• Working knowledge on AutoCAD and REVIT.
• Air side system design for constant volume and variable volume system.
• Design of variable primary and variable secondary Chilled/Hot water piping system, Centralized LPG system, Steam system and bulk fuel oil handling system.
• Project sustainability check with requirements stipulated in Int’l Energy Code, ASHRAE and USGBC.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and capable of performing as Senior Project Manager working directly with Clients and Facility Owners
• Involved in the design and construction administration of high end villa resort at Durrat Al Bahrain
• The HVAC systems for villas were designed to incorporate high ambient heat pump units without increasing the power input requirements of the villa design, providing both cooling and heating functions
• A VRF, environmentally friendly system provided greater comfort and was provided with a central control unit suitable for remote monitoring and switching capability
• The systems incorporated multiple compressors in the external rooftop condensing units and independent room temperature control
• At design completion, I joined the site services team to provide construction administration
• Reviewed shop drawings and material submittals of mechanical contractor, assisted contractor’s testing and commissioning team with simple approach of data logging to compare HVAC performance in villas
• Carried out inspections and conducted site meetings with contractor and his sub-contractors
• Provided project and construction management services for public health engineering and other mechanical system (steam and bulk fuel oil) for Bahrain City Center Mall, Hotels and Car Park building
• Had overall project responsibility from engineering to sub-contract management, material resourcing, supervision and up to testing and commissioning assistance
• Reviewed and prepared design changes in collaboration with design consultants, prepared design criteria report wherever needed, conducted design review meetings and checked shop drawings and material submittals before submission to consultant
• Worked with sub-contractors, design consultant and Bahrain Civil Defense personnel during design review by local authority for fire and life safety aspect of the project
• Ensured that internal hydrant and hose reel system as well as wet sprinkler system met the requirement of NFPA-14 and NFPA-13 respectively and corridor and atrium smoke evacuation system complied with the requirement of local fire code, International Building Code and NFPA-92B
• Liaised with construction manager and planning engineer for progress monitoring and preparing work schedule
• Negotiated sub-contract agreement for plumbing, drainage and other mechanical services
