Position Senior Manager - IT Department
Major Responsibilities: Head of technology division, reporting to the CEO., head of technology team for the new Core banking system.
* Member of the business development group.
* Assist the bank IT infrastructure and plan for next 5 year
* Main responsibility is to use the technology to run the business better, faster with lower cost, and full customer satisfaction and support.
1- Manage a team of software developers to maintain and develop solutions to support the bank activities and to offer better customers service.
2- Develop the Policy and the implementation procedure to upgrade the bank development process from CMM (Capability Maturity Model) from level 1 to level 2, including full implementation plan and templates.
3- Manage the IT assessment project done by GARTNER consultant, to assist the legacy banking application and the legacy development tools (COBOL).
4- Design and develop a Banking SMS system (SMSLink), using Microsoft technology and development tools. The system is very efficient, cost effective (cost the bank less than 300 BD, with minimum running cost). It was the first Banking SMS life system in Bahrain.
5- Develop the IT disaster recovery implementation plan for the Core banking system, Exchange system, and other customer services systems.
6- Manage and design a number of software projects (Intranet, interfacing with Batelco systems, ATM switch (ISO8583 messages middleware)...).
ANIS is a WEB, WAP, KIOSK, SMS and mobile application Software Development Company, owned by BATELCO (Bahrain Telecommunication Company).
As a development manager my responsibilities are:
1-Manage the development team (23 developers and designers)
2-Manage the Networking division (2 Network administrators)
3-Manage the R&D division (2 IT specialists)
4-Develop and prototype new ideas to increase the company market Share (SMS solution, internet controlled home, Smart Card application, kiosk application)
5-Helping the development team to solve the technical problems.
6-Prepare the technical proposals and technical presentations.
7-Study and evaluate new technologies.
8-Prepare the projects resources and costing sheet.
9-Manage the Project Managers.
Computer world is the biggest computer company in Bahrain. Before I started working with them, they were mainly a hardware reseller for ACER, COMPAQ, CISCO and others.
With Computer World I started a new software development department, which was focused only on software development using Microsoft tools (Visual Basic, Visual J++, MSSQL, and Windows NT).
After first 3 months we opened a new company (infoTOUCH) and moved all the software activity to it.
I was the leader of the development team; we have now 16 programmers, 2 support engineers, 2 Testers, 2 Technical writers and 4 systems analyst
As a Projects Manager at Computer world I am responsible for major projects like:
• Design and implement Windows NT 4.0 network setup for Internet, Mailing system and Intranet.
• Design and implement Microsoft Exchange Server 5.x mailing system for more then 10 clients in Bahrain and Gulf (Al Zamil Steel, BMMI…).
• Consultant for Government of Bahrain official internet site
• Designer and developer for (infoShop) e-Commerce site using Microsoft Visual Interdev 6.0 and Microsoft Site Server 3.0 Commerce Edition
• Design and develop email JAVA applet using Visual J++ and JavaMail API Version 1.1, infoTOUCH use this applet for internet Kiosk project
• Project Manager for 15 software projects in Bahrain using Microsoft tools and Database.
• Project Leader for the Bahrain defense force logistic department
Computerization project.
On Sep., 1992 70% of Arab Islamic Bank operation was done manually and they were looking for computer system to automate the internal and clients operation.
My job was to design and develop an Islamic Banking system to support all Islamic transactions, including the hardware network design and implementation:
1- Install Novell Ver. 3.11 on IBM PS/2 95 Server and MS Windows 3.11 with Arabic support for the end users.
2- 6 Months of designing and understanding the bank internal procedure
3- Start the project using VISUAL BASIC v 3.0 and VISUAL C++ v 1.0
4- The Project is 14 modules with the following:
* Running under MS Windows 3.11 supporting ARABIC
* Investment Contracts
* Client’s transactions over Current and Investment Accounts.
* GL, SGL Full integration with all Clients and internal transaction.
* Full Clients Support system (Statement of accounts, on line client balance update, client’s confirmations...)
* Fully automated PROFIT distribution system (supporting all parameters like management fees, provision...)
* More than 40 reports including trial balance and detail transactions for any accounts.
* Password Security system
5-More than 12 Management reports (Top clients, Fund under Management.)
