As a member of the Infrastructure Delivery team main responsibilities was to provide a wide range of database services such as query tuning and optimization (for front-end applications), troubleshooting database issues and performing thorough health checks for existing & new infrastructure builds. Asif was exposed to the following during his time at Sky IQ:
Lead & Deliver the migration of SAP Sybase IQ Multiplex databases from 12.7 to version 15 providing business case and full implementation plans in alignment with external hardware refresh projects.
A technical lead on the hardware refresh for the Data Warehouse Platform
Participation in on-call rota to support the production database infrastructure
Schedule & implement regular housekeeping on SAP IQ databases
Data capacity management.
Lead & Deliver the design & implementation of a Disaster Recovery solution SAP Virtual Backup solutions for non-stop SAP IQ operation 24x7
Providing Consultancy services for Sybase IQ, ASE & Replication Server.
Some of the work undertaken within Sybase Professional Services include: - Taught various Sybase courses including Fast Track to ASE, ASE System Admin, IQ Administration & Replication Server.
- ASE 15 upgrade for Co-Op. ASE/RS DBA for Bank of New York
- ASE/RS DBA in RBS
- Comfortable with installing & configuring Sybase Products on UNIX platforms especially Redhat Linux.
- Installed & Configured a Replication Server Royal Marsden Hospital.
- Installed & Configured Replication Server for John Wiley
- Sybase ASE DBA for Commerzbank in Frankfurt, providing Sybase DBA support as well as migrating a number of ASE dataservers.
- Sybase IQ consultancy for Ericsson and Sky IQ.
- Performed a thorough Sybase ASE 15 migration plan for Co-op Financial as well as provide support for database corruption on their production environment.
