Working with ARCHEN Engineering Consultants in Riyadh KSA as Geotechnical Expert for a Design Build Type Project, having 14 different housing sites in KSA; comprising more than 10, 000 housing units owned by Ministry of Interior “MOI”. Project worth is nearly 20 Billion SAR (Initially SAR 17, 531, 826, 267). Value Engineering is the main consideration for design review. Responsibilites include but not limited to Prequalification of sub-contractors for Geotechnical Investigations, for excavations & Backfilling works, for Geo Grid works and for Soil improvement techniques like Dynamic compaction, Rapid Dynamic compaction and Dynamic Replacement etc. etc. Others include Design Review, Review of submittals by Contractors & Sub contractors related to Geotechnical investigations, testing & approvals of different materials for buildings, roads, parking areas etc., Concrete aggregates testing & approvals, Review of different Method statements related to Geotechnical works. Co-ordination / meetings with different disciplines and Contractors.
Held a key position with Riyadh Geotechnique and Foundations Co. “RGF”, Riyadh office Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I had Managed different projects related to geotechnical investigations and design. Riyadh Metro Project is one of these. Responsibilities include but not limited to Management of site activities, Co-ordination, Lab testing supervision, Preparation of factual and design reports. Ministries and Government departments like Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Health, Saudi Aramco, Royal Commission, Saudi Electric Company “SEC”, Saudi Railways and ArRiyadh Development Authority “ADA” etc. were main clients of RGF. It also worked with, Saudi Bin Ladin group, Siemens, Worley Parsons, ATKINS, SLFE and STANTEC etc. I had also worked in RGF Khobar office for some assignments related to Quality Management.
Worked as freelance consultant. Assignments involved Preparation of bids for dams projects, Sites management and geotechnical design for Various Infrastructure projects.
Employed with M.H. Aitah NESPAK Engineering Consultants Company and worked as Geotechnical Engineer for dams’ projects with Ministry of Water and Electricity Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and also in NESPAK Riyadh office. Responsibilites included Selection and prequalification of Consultants. Review of layout proposals and design by Consultants. Design review of Alith, Qanoona and Yaba dams projects for water supply in Aseer region of KSA. also in NESPAK Riyadh office.
During this short period; I have worked with GEOBAND Works Management Lahore, Pakistan, as proposal and Geotechnical Design Engineer. Assignments under taken were Bid preparation for 840 MW Suki Kinari hydropower project, Proposal for geotechnical investigations of various infrastructure projects and Preparation of design reports.

Project is located on Indus River in Pakistan. Tarbela dam with 485 ft height and 9000 ft width has installed capacity of 3478 MW and is World’s largest earth and rockfill dam. Preparation of Detailed design, Tender Documents and PC-1 was awarded by Water and Power Development Authority “WAPDA” Pakistan to the JV comprising Mott Macdonald London, COYNE ET BELLIER, ACE (Pvt.) Ltd Pakistan and Mott Macdonald Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
• Analysis of discontinuity data and preparation of “Rose Diagram” and Stereonet analysis and failures in Rockmass.
• Planning boreholes locations for investigations.
• Finalization of borehole logs data and Water Pressure Tests (WPT) received from site office.
• Preparation of Lab testing programs on rock and soil samples and evaluation of results.
• Preparation of Geotechnical drawings and sections.

Responsibilities:
Worked as Geotechnical Engineer in Pakistan, on the following projects of Sarhad Hydel Development Organization (SHYDO), Irrigation Department, Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB) and Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA):
1. Feasibility Study of Jabori Hydropower Project (8m high with 8MW Potential) in District Mansehra.
2. Feasibility Study of Koto Hydropower Project (10 m high with 18 MW potential) in District Dir (Lower).
3. Feasibility Study of Karora Hydropower Project (8 m high with 7.5 MW potential) in District Shangla.
NOTE: Tunnels were designed for above three projects.
4. Feasibility study of Hanzel Hydropower Project (8.5 m high with 20 MW potential) in Gilgit.

5. Lower Bari Doaab Canal Improvement Project (LBDCIP) Balloki: Rehabilitation and improvement of Balloki barrage and Lower Bari Doab Canal, Detailed Design phase was in progress to be followed by Construction phase. It was a JV of NESPAK, ACE, MML & MMP and the client was irrigation Department.
ACE was General Consultants to Private Power & Infrastructure Board (PPIB) Pakistan and reviewed working of different consultants on the following projects at serial number 6 to 10.
6. Shushghai Zhendoli Hydropower Project (26.4 m high with 144 MW potential) in District Chitral.
7. Shogo Sin Hydropower Project (30 m high with 123 MW potential) in District Chitral.
8. Karot Hydropower Project (90 m high with 720 MW potential) at Karot Jehlum River
9. Kalam Asrit Hydropower Project (197 m high) in Swat.
10. Sehra Hydropower Project in Kotli - Punch (23 m high with 130 MW potential).
I Held position of deputy project manager during preparation of bid for contractors for the following dams where WAPDA was client for EPC contract.
11. Ghabir Dam (42 m high Irrigation dam in Chakwal, Pakistan).
12. Papin Dam (32 m high Irrigation dam in Rawalpindi, Pakistan).

Project : Dasu Hydropower Project (Feasibility Study)

Project is located on Indus River in District Kohistan, Pakistan. It is about 180 m high Roller Compacted Concrete “RCC” Dam and has a potential of almost 4300 MW. Project was a Joint Venture of NESPAK (Pvt.) Ltd Pakistan, Associated Consulting Engineers ACE (Pvt.) Ltd Pakistan, MWH International, Inc, USA and Colenco Power Engineering Limited, (CPE) Switzerland.
Responsibilities:
• Analysis of discontinuity data and preparation of “Rose Diagram”, Stereonet analysis and failures in Rockmass.
• Finalization of borehole logs data and Water Pressure Tests (WPT) received from site office.
• Preparation of Lab testing programs on rock & soil samples and evaluation of alternative dam sites.
• Preparation of Geotechnical drawings and sections.
• Rockmass classification using Geological Strength Index (GSI)
• Preparation of Tender Documents for adits and shafts at dam sites.
• Participation in Panel of Experts (PoE) meetings and presentations.
• Preparation of monthly and interim progress reports and Technical Memorandums related to Geology and Geotechnical section.

Mirani Dam project (EPC/TURNKEY Project) which is 127 ft high Concrete Face Rockfill Dam (CFRD) for irrigation purposes at Dasht River in Makran division of Balochistan, Pakistan. Worked as coordinator and was also involved in the design review, preparation of monthly progress report and presentations. I also participated in meeting and presentation to Board of Management (BoM).

Mangla dam (1000 MW) is the twelfth largest dam of world constructed in 1967 on Jhelum River in Azad Kashmir Pakistan, which under provision has now being raised up to 30 feet. Mangla Joint Venture (MJV) comprised of NESPAK (Pvt.) Ltd Pakistan, Associated Consulting Engineers ACE (Pvt.) Ltd Pakistan, Barqaab Pakistan, MWH International, Inc, USA and Black & Veatch (BV) UK.
Responsibilities:
Worked for a short term assignment in the field design office of MJV to interact with various disciplines and provide solutions to the problems related to Geotechnical section. I was responsible for the dredging arrangements and activities for the sediments removal from Mangla reservoir, however dredging could not start during my stay at site.

• Preparation of final borehole logs after receiving data from site; using LOGPLOT 2003 software.
• Analyzing slopes for their stability using SLOPE/W software.

I was deputed by Associated Consulting Engineers-ACE (PVT.) Ltd. to work at site with PAKISTAN HYDRO CONSULTANTS “PHC” a joint venture of National Engineering Services of Pakistan; NESPAK (Pvt.) Ltd., Associated Consulting Engineers; ACE (Pvt.) Ltd., BINNIE & PARTNERS (Overseas) Ltd. UK, HARZA Engineering Company International L.P USA and Ewbank Preece Ltd. at Barrage Section of 1450 MW Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) which is just 7 Km downstream of Tarbela dam on Indus River Pakistan.
Responsibilities:
• Execution and construction supervision of site activities related to Structures section.
• Checking of steel reinforcement & formwork etc; according to the approved drawings for different components of Barrage like Standard Bays, Under Sluices, Head Regulator, Control building & Fuse Plug having piers, slabs, Bridge deck slabs, Retaining walls, Sumps, Culverts, Cable Trenches, Pulling Pits and Gantry Crane Beams.
• Final checking of pours before its approval for concreting and also to supervise its concrete pouring.
• Supervision of Fuse Plug consisting of RCC (Roller Compacted Concrete) and Mass Concrete.
• Supervising the Concreting process, Post tensioning and grouting of 216 bridge girders of different components of Barrage.
• Execution and supervision of reinforcement and concreting of bridges at Standard bays, under sluices and Head regulator.
• Supervising tremie concrete for coffer dam area.
• Checking finishes and repair of concrete surfaces.
• Steel sampling and testing.
• Handling and processing incoming mail in accordance with the prescribed procedure.
• Maintain and operate a document control center.
• To liaise with REs and AREs to collect data for preparing weekly progress report.
• To receive the engineer’s construction drawing from Head office and follow the prescribed procedure for their external and internal distribution.
• Review and approval of Contractor’s shop drawings and construction detail drawings such as lift drawings, reinforcement detail drawings, bar bending schedules etc; of barrage, within prescribed period after their receipt.
• Checking and preparation of “As built” drawings of Barrage related to structures, earthwork, geotechnical and instrumentation sections.
