Under the overall guidance and leadership of the Managing Director and Programs Manager, the
Communication Officer (CO) is responsible to provide support for the Managing Director and the
Programs Manager in the day to day operational and office management and delivery of outputs and
activities in a timely efficient manner.
This covers a broad range of issues ranging from program formulation and design through implementation
to delivery and oversight of all ArabEnv operations, such as:
Communication work
* Assist/ support the implementation of ArabEnv activities as assigned by the supervisors
* Work proactively with ArabEnv team to identify opportunities for capturing and sharing
knowledge, and disseminating information about major progress and results
* Research and identify related media stories, write and edit media releases, and feature stories
within tight time frames which consistently meet agreed corporate standards
* Responsible for managing and regularly updated the content of the ArabEnv website and for the
quality of the content
* Managing ArabEnv profiles on social networks (Facebook, YouTube, Flicker, etc) daily with
information about activities and events
* Prepare media outreach materials for the ArabEnv: press releases, text for brochures/ project
summaries/ success stories
* Assist with the planning, organization of special events, outreach/ promotional activities and
public and targeted group presentations
* Build network partnerships and supporting outreach programs
* Collect and maintain project photographs, documentation and related materials
Advocacy work
* Develop and implement ArabEnv Educational and social marketing campaigns' concepts and
materials
* Develop messages and communications products related to the organization's key learning and
advocacy themes
* Produce or oversee production of general advocacy and communications products, such as
booklets, backgrounders, audio-visual materials, speeches
* In collaboration with the thematic lead on behavior change, assess and provide support to in-
country behavior change communications and campaigns
* Support communications for development activities in partnership with stakeholders
* Develop partnerships with relevant in-country stakeholders to support and make sustainable
national advocacy and communications work
* Advocates for ArabEnv with all potential counterparts (local and international) and international
institutions
* Travel as appropriate in support of the advocacy and communications objectives
Project management support
* Prepare terms of references for consultants/ request for proposals/ request for quotations etc as
assigned by the supervisors
* Assist in project procurement related activities
* Assist in administrative activities as require
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager
* Program Development: prepare, assist in drafting and editing of all ArabEnv concept notes,
documents and project proposals
* Program Implementation: training, research organize events as needed by the program
* Business Development: search for business opportunities, prepare proposals
* Partnerships: support partnerships building and resources mobilization for ArabEnv. Identify
potential partners, support regular communications and prepare terms of partnerships
* Represent ArabEnv in the national and international flora as requested by the supervisors
