Key Responsibilities as Generator Winding Expert (Aug ‘99 - Present):
• Devising schedules and procedures for the installation, alignment, cleaning, repair and modification of large high voltage electric generators.
• Managing major issues pertaining to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of generator components such as stators, rotors and exciters to avoid unscheduled stoppages.
• Designing specifications, calculations and performance assessments associated with planning, design, operation and maintenance of the generators and other utilities.
• Conducting HV dielectric test, Elcid tests and natural frequency measurements/analysis to examine the operating condition of installed generators.
• Promoting a safe/healthy work environment and employing safe work practices whilst ensuring compliance with the organizational policies and procedures.
Highlight:
• Successfully executed maintenance tasks for ESKOM generators (600 and 900 MW) in Koeberg, Lethabo, Matimba, Matla power plants and Sasol generators.
Key Responsibilities as Winding Supervisor (Jun ‘94 - Jul ‘99):
• Planned and implemented maintenance policies/procedures. Directed, monitored and coordinated, sectional processes, evaluations and plans to guarantee standard running conditions of all plant utilities.
• Submitted monthly data of performance parameters to the upper management, along with proposals to eliminate bottlenecks in maintenance. Suggested possible avenues of improving the process and safety procedures.
• Identified bottlenecks, recommended and effected corrective actions to address non-conformities and shortfalls in maintenance processes.
• Reviewed, evaluated and analyzed work environments as well as designed programs/procedures to control, eliminate and prevent injury caused by physical/ergonomic factors.

• Performed an array of tasks associated with inspection and testing of stators, armatures and rotors, identified mechanical damage and executed requisite actions for resolving them.
• Oversaw maintenance policy and procedure development in the area of work identification, planning and execution.
• Audited logbooks, appraised immediate superiors of possible anomalies, technical emergencies and took immediate corrective measures to improve manufacturing methods/ machine performance.
