 Responsible for the collation, handling, analysis and feedback of routine infection control surveillance information together with “alert” organism and outbreak surveillance data.
 Assist in the maintenance of surveillance systems for prompt identification and treatment of patients with known or suspected infections, early identification and control of infection hazards.
 Liaise with staff to improve the quality and validity of data originating from departments and other participating units and identifying problems with surveillance forms, missing data and the interpretation of results.
 Working out what the trends in infections are for nurses and managers to implement by running reports using various databases such as KiCS, PathManager, InfoView and WinPath. I also collate and analyze data using large excel spreadsheets.
 Assist in the development of programmes for the analysis of infection control surveillance data using standardized statistical software.
 Collaborate with the clinical audit department in collecting and disseminating data relating to infection control surveillance.
 Responsible for day to day operation of the Infection Prevention & Control team, coordinating the actions of various departments that need the attention of the Team (Infection Control Nurses).
 Attending various meetings, take and disseminate minutes as well as researching various new policies or systems such as Waste Management, to ensure the department/Trust takes the safest and most cost-effective decision. I am currently working on a new Waste Management strategy for the Trust which would, if trialed and adopted, lead to a more effective infection control/prevention framework.
 Support the Infection Control Link Practitioners (trainers) in delivering regular training and Study Days to ensure the Trust complies with National Guidelines.
 Update and maintain various database (Oracle/ESR) and spreadsheets with details of staff training for CRE (Carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae), CDT (Clostridium Dificille Toxin) infections and Hand hygiene, at all times ensuring the Trust complies with national guidelines on training for patient safety, risk management and clinical governance.
 Collating various Audit data such as Commode, Hand Hygiene and IV lines audits and entering on the Business Intelligence Unit database. I monitor the scorecards and escalate to the Head Nurse Practitioner as required to improve patient services.
 Initiate Root Cause Investigation forms for various infections by completing patient demographic details.

Fundraising Administrator at Ubuntu Education Fund

My MA dissertation was on Women's Land Rights in sub-Saharan Africa, a topic carefully chosen by me as it was an opportunity to research and explore economics, development, agriculture and human/women's rights. I also hold the University of Kent Global Skills Award. This was awarded after I had successfully participated in a series of lectures, seminars and workshops aimed at improving participants' employablity and global awareness.
