JOB ROLE
As Chief Copy Editor, I shared my responsibilities with the Pages Editor to bring out the Business Section of Gulf News, which consisted of, on an average, 16-18 pages. The number of employees directly reporting to me was 12.
• My regular responsibilities included page planning, news gathering from the wires and copy testing, liaison with reporters for local business news, designing the layout of the section and assigning graphic and pictures to the pages.
• I regularly filed reports on business happenings in India.
• I headed the desk during the Pages Editor’s absence.
• Impart training to new staff.
ACHIEVEMENTS
• I was confirmed a month before my six-month probation was complete. I was issued a letter to that effect - a first in Gulf News.
• I started heading the business desk (for two days) just after a month I joined the organisation.
• In a very short period of time my Editor-in-Chief bestowed confidence in by writing abilities and entrusted me with the responsibility of writing a column. I wrote a weekly column named ‘INDIA INSIGHT’.
Heading a three-person team, I brought out the four-page BUSINESS TRIBUNE section of the newspaper. News planning, page designing, graphics designing were my duties.

ACHIEVEMENTS
• I played a key role in launching Oman’s third English newspaper, OMAN TRIBUNE. I created two absolutely essential tools — Page Library and Style-Sheet — for the newspaper. I also played a big role in designing the templates for the newspaper. All were much appreciated.
• I created the Newsroom Workflow System
• I designed OMAN TRIBUNE’s stocks page — the best-designed and most informative according to a readers’ survey in Oman.

Business Times was brought out single-handedly by me. My primary responsibilities included editing and rewriting news reports, essentially updating their content. Designing and making pages in Quark Xpress environment. My job profile also includes business reporting, especially on happenings in the information technology sector. The number of employees directly reporting to me is 4.
ACHIEVEMENT
• Business Times was voted "the best" in the eastern region of India by an independent poll conducted by MODE. I consider it to be the best achievement of my career.
The Times of India is the largest circulating English daily in the country. The Calcutta edition is the latest addition to the newspaper’s portfolio. The edition secured the No. 2 position in this region within a year-and-a-half, competing with long-established players.
My responsibilities included editing business news reports, designing and making pages and reporting.
The Statesman has a history of over 100 years. It taught me the basics of news judgment.
I started my print media career in The Telegraph. It is here that I learnt news copy tasting and newspaper designing.
The Telegraph is the largest circulating daily in eastern India. Polls have revealed that it is the best-designed newspaper in the country.
Business Breakfast was a television news programme presented by Ananda Bazar TV.
My responsibilities included making documentaries on news developments in the corporate sector. Job profile also included media management of ongoing programmes.
