Supervised EPCM contractors in their engineering scope of work as they develop their design. Reviews contractor’s design calculations and drawings of reinforced concrete and structural steel in onshore and offshore structures of ongoing desalination and power plant projects. Comments on material submittals, quality plans and procedures including inspection test plans, contractual claims and construction method statements. Coordinated with engineering and vendor for the fabrication and delivery of free-issue structural steel materials. Monitor subcontractor’s procurement schedule ensuring materials undergo the procurement cycle within the schedule. Effective tracking, communication and follow up resulted to material availability at site 98% of the time. Resolved minor technical issues at site. Ensure that the safety requirements are followed in all stages of the construction. Reviewed updated erection and fabrication drawings of structural steel to ensure revisions in the design drawings are reflected. Update periodically work front list to reflected areas where design drawings and materials are available and activities can be started by the subcontractor. Monitored contractor’s compliance to project safety program. Reported directly to the Construction Manager.
Worked with Saudi Aramco for the expansion of Hawiyah Gas Plant in Hawiyah and Shedgum to Juaymah Gas Plant C2+ NGL Pipeline Capacity Increase Projects. Monitored contractor’s daily activities. Performed a joint survey to check rock excavation volume and reduced contractor’s claim by 78%. Review contractor’s construction performance with respect to progress, safety, quality and planning. Ensured completion of civil works prior to delivery and erection of electro-mechanical and piping materials . Monitored material procurement schedules of free issue and contractor supplied to ensure and support project schedule. Supervised the closure of civil works punch list items prior to testing and commissioning of major portions of the project. Ensure safety regulations are followed in the worksite. Reported directly to the Senior Project Engineer.
As Civil QC Inspector Prepared the Inspection Test Plan for Civil and Structural Steel activities as part of Project Quality Plan for client’s approval, reviewed plans and specifications and initiates Request for Clarifications if conflicts were found. Conducted pre-inspection and submit Request for Inspection, maintain calibration status of testing instruments and tools, prepared disposition reports and monitored corrective actions to close out non conformances. Reported to Project QA/QC Manager.
As Material Procurement Engineer - prepared material procurement plan base on project schedule, farmed out supplier quotations and identify lead time requirements of long lead items. Prepare and introduced a worksheet that will track the status of material procurement from detailed material takeoff, quotation requests, submission of material submittals, assist in the preparation of purchase orders, monitor material shipment and arrival at site and conducting material receiving inspections. Accuracy of material take-off drastically reduce inventory of excess material. Reports directly to Project Manager.
As an Estimating Engineer - provided bill of quantities for architectural, civil and structural works for projects under bidding. Prepared request for quotations and assist in preparation and submission of bid documents.
Prepared pre-construction planning, master schedule with manpower and equipment requirements, organized project staff requirements, Reviewed sub-contractor’s organizational chart and Project Execution Plans. Coordinated with design proponents. Conducted a weekly coordination meeting with sub-contractors, prepared spatial coordinated shop drawings showing all trades and clarify and resolved problems arising from conflicts in drawings. Worked with Brown & Root and US Corps of Engineers in the restoration of war damage of Kuwait infrastructure after the first Gulf War. Restored three school buildings and the arrival and departure areas of the Kuwait International Airport in record time. Managed and supervised more that 100 skilled workers.
