To work with the engineering and construction department colleagues in ensuring that the contractors adhere to their terms of reference vis-a-vis the closing out of the projects which they are working on. I do quality control of executed infrastructure projects to ensure that the completed projects have been executed in accordance with the agreed project specifications including quality plans. I review all project close-out submissions including as- built drawings and operations and maintenance manuals to ensure that the construction phase/ operations phase interface is smooth and the operator takes over the best possible infrastructure that will require minimum maintenance in the short term.The as-built drawings are checked on site to validate that any changes that occurred during construction versus the original designs are incorporated in the drawings and in so doing ensure that the operator has the correct information of the built infrastructure. I meet with both the project management consultant and engineering and construction colleagues to discuss and brainstorm any design short comings and recommend any corrective measures where possible or include the recommendations in project post mortems for the benefit of future projects- lessons learnt.I manage the defects liability periods of the various phases in the infrastructure projects to ensure that the Contractor is held accountable for any post construction defects during the period including all correspondence related to contracts close-out phase administration. I also manage the operation and maintenance contracts of some of the infrastructure projects pending the eventual hand-over of operations to in-house staff on expiration of the post construction maintenance contracts. I manage the contractual demonstration and training of in-house staff conducted by various installers of complex infrastructure equipment installed on the site to ensure sufficient deliverables to the trainees to enhance operations.
My undergraduate studies involved the study of civil engineering in Germany majoring in structural engineering sponsored by the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft scholarship.In order to enhance my business understanding of engineering, I undertook to study for a master of business leadership degree through distance education.
