Contracted to refurbish and maintain whale watching vessel Unathi, in Hermanus harbour. The 20 ton passenger sea going vessel needed to be safety certified and refurbished for the new whale watching season starting middle May every year. • Did a complete mechanical overhaul of the twin drive trains.
o 2 x Yanmar 6 cylinder turbo diesels, gearboxes, prop shafts, cutless bearings and propellers.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring and onboard electronics. Grounded onboard metal components to correct excessive corrosion issues.
• Resolve buoyancy issues and certification, did a complete hull anti-fouling and painting.
• Train the crew to carry out basic maintenance tasks.
Refurbishing contract ongoing. Staff Training tasks and annual maintanance still current.
