DRILLING ENGINEER

December 2017 - Present

Planning of multi sidetrack campaign in 2019 ongoing. Examining surface well options or ST's
such as single hole size and KOP to optimise design. Preparing tender documents, well
trajectories and basis of design. Following completion of 2018 P&A / WO campaign this my main
focus. Challenging wells which enter highly depleted reservoir then drill to virgin pressure area.
• 2019 campaign also includes 3 x subsea P&A's and 2 x workovers which I am DE for, due to the
small team size within Perenco I am exposed to many different aspects of wells and take on
responsibility for these.
• 2018 Subsea well P&A from a HDJU - wrote BOD, programmes and permitting for 3 wells
completed in 2018. Wells had been untouched in 30 years so the project involved a large scope
of engineering and designing of bespoke equipment that can be used on obsolete trees.
Included gaining access to a vertical eccentric tree without a dual bore riser and contingencies
for failed tree valves. Time saving such as using a tubing patch to access the B-annulus highlight
innovative solutions used during campaign.
In planning I was responsible for issuing RFQ's to service companies, final selection and then
working with chosen supplier. Examples include digital slickline, TCP, TRS and riser tensioning
system. The programme is now operational an in addition to daily operations support, I am
responsible for invoice technical approvals on all services.
I compiled a campaign risk assessment and then completed well specific risk assessments. This
included the rig moves from well to well and SIMOPS with the dive support vessel.
Organised and headed the AWOP meetings for each well using discussions to feedback into
programme. Ensuring lessons learnt are carried forward from well to well.
Acting Superintendent as weekend cover when required.
• Planning & Execution of a subsea well intervention that encountered a collapsed open hole. Coil
tubing intervention within the completion revealed it to be clear resulting in a completion pull,
packer milling and OH drift run. The well was then temporary abandoned for return in 2019 for
ST. Significant work required on riser stack up due to eccentric tree and unusual stab design.
• Support to decommissioning department on platform abandonments - reviewing procedures
and plug placement for their rigless campaigns.

DRILLING ENGINEER

March 2015 - November 2016

Great Britain (UK)

March 2015 - November 2016

Responsible for the well programme and design of a complex Carboniferous appraisal well
which involved tight tolerance liners, stress caging of a depleted reservoir, coring, extensive
logging, 1000m horizontal (geological) sidetrack and multi stage frac ops. This well was
completed on behalf of Perenco partners, the late approval of AFE resulted in short timeframe
to bring well from BOD stage to operations.
• Prepared trajectories and costs for potential targets (subsea, platform and ST). Presented to
Perenco's partners the well design proposals in conjunction with the subsurface department.
• Ensured well programmes complied with governing documentation, local requirements and
company policy.
• Tender preparation, review and award. Presented recommended service providers to
management and partners before issuing PO's and monitoring costs. Responsible for invoice
technical approvals.
• Risk Management and planning of well and SIMOPS with platform, control room on main
platform and frac vessel.
• Support to well services - MAASP calculations.
• Lead engineer on “Legacy well” project. Review of all temporary abandoned subsea exploration
and appraisal wells to identify hazards from these wells and potential solutions. Delivered a
detailed report on 24 wells, their condition. Multiple documents produced on various topics
including cement porosity / potential flowrate, reconnection to MLS systems and detailed risk
assessments (gas build up below shallow plugs especially). Engaged with multiple operators
with similar wells, ongoing discussions within industry on best course of action on these high
risk wells.
