NetApp Amgen contract for ONTAP 8 migration
02/04/13 - Present
Sr. Project Manager
Contract Project Manager, implementing an ONTAP 8 and 7 Mode SAN migration for NetApp. The customer is Amgen Biotechnology, a company dedicated to cellular and molecular biology to allow scientists to identify and develop a host of new cost-effective products.
• Currently migrating Data ONTAP 8 which offers two operating modes, 7-Mode and Cluster-Mode SAN. 7-Mode operation extends the value of the Data ONTAP 7G OS onto a 64-bit platform. Cluster-Mode operation enhances NetApp's storage efficiency value by introducing massive scalability and non-disruptive operations. With Data ONTAP 8 operating in Cluster-Mode, two or more controllers (or nodes) operate as one shared resource pool or storage cluster. The Amgen migration consists of 22 controllers over a 5 month period in three worksites; Thousand Oaks, CA, Boulder, CO, and Seattle, WA.
• Adding disk shelves to support, SAS, SATA, and high-performance SSD drives, to scale vertically to address growing capacity requirements.
• Implementing OnCommand Monitoring system to optimize monitoring, reporting and management capabilities.
• Supporting a rolling-refresh approach means the ability to manage, upgrade, and service storage infrastructure non-disruptively over the life of Amgen's data-even during normal business hours.
